Position Title:
Senior Sales and Use Tax Analyst
Location:
South Jersey - Hybrid (2-3 days in office per week)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Sales and Use Tax Analyst to join our Tax Department. As a Senior Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring the companys compliance with state and local sales and use tax regulations. You will work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment for a large publicly traded company, utilizing industry-leading tax software such as Vertex, and Alteryx, to manage complex tax data, perform tax compliance, and ensure accurate tax reporting with the Accounting and Financial Reporting Teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Use Tax Compliance:
Prepare, review, and file accurate sales and use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions, ensuring timely compliance with all state and local tax laws.
Tax Analysis:
Conduct thorough analysis of sales and use tax implications for various business transactions, with an emphasis on high-volume, complex transactions.
Tax Software Management:
Utilize Vertex, Alteryx software to manage tax data, automate tax calculation processes, and streamline compliance tasks.
Audit Support:
Assist with sales and use tax audits by gathering documentation, preparing analyses, and responding to inquiries from auditors.
Research and Advisory:
Stay up-to-date on evolving tax laws and regulations, and provide tax advisory support to internal teams to minimize tax liabilities and identify tax-saving opportunities.
Process Improvements:
Identify and implement improvements to sales and use tax processes and systems to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with accounting, finance, procurement, legal, and other departments to ensure tax compliance across business operations.
Tax Accounting:
Assist with sales and use tax provisions, including monthly accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting as it relates to indirect taxes.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field. CPA is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in sales and use tax, with at least 3 years in a large corporate environment or public accounting firm. Experience with high-volume transaction environments is essential.
Software Proficiency:
Expertise in using Vertex, Alteryx tax software is required.
Skills:
Strong understanding of multi-state sales and use tax laws and regulations.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage large volumes of data and multiple jurisdictions.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
Experience managing tax audits and handling inquiries from tax authorities.
