Payroll Specialist

Duration: Full Time
Payroll Processing: Responsible for the processing weekly, biweekly or semimonthly
payroll for over 300 employees, including data entry, timekeeping,
and calculation of wages and deductions.
Data Maintenance: Maintain accurate employee records, including changes in
salary, benefits, tax withholding, and personal information.
Verification: Verify timekeeping records and resolve any discrepancies or
issues related to hours worked.
Benefit Administration: Assist with the administration of employee benefits,
including health insurance, retirement plans, and other deductions.
Tax, Benefit and Garnishment Compliance: Ensure accurate calculation and
timely submission of payroll taxes, including federal, state, and local
withholding as well as garnishments and benefits.
Reporting: Generate payroll reports as needed, including year-end reports
such as W-2s and other reporting requirements. Also include reconciliation of
monthly benefit statements for accuracy.
Communication: Address employee inquiries related to payroll, taxes, portal
usage and deductions promptly and professionally.
Record Keeping: Maintain organized and secure payroll records in
compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Compliance: Stay current with federal and state payroll laws and regulations
to ensure accurate payroll processing and compliance.
Confidentiality: Maintain employee confidentiality and protect payroll
operations by keeping all private information confidential.
Special Projects: Assist in special projects as assigned by management.
Payroll Specialist Requirements and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is a plus.
Prior experience in payroll processing or a similar role is a plus.
Proficiency in various payroll software programs
Strong MS Office skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Team player with a willingness to assist colleagues as needed.
Ability to organize, multitask, and prioritize in deadline-driven environment and
work under pressure.
