Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity is currently seeking a Director of Development, Individual and Foundations. In this role, the Director of Development will be instrumental in advancing the mission of Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity by cultivating and securing significant individual and foundation philanthropic support.
The Director will work alongside the Chief Development Officer to develop a strategic plan to dramatically increase and expand individual major gift and foundation gift revenue for the organization. The ideal candidate is a strong, strategic and passionate individual who excels in relationship building, stewardship, and major gift solicitation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Meet and exceed all fundraising targets and KPIs.Work alongside the CDO to develop an individual giving strategy including a new loyalty circle, planned giving, future endowment and capital campaign, and more that will align with the organization's mission and financial goals.Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward gifts from qualified major gift and foundation prospects and maintain those relationships, growing them year over year.Manage a portfolio of donors, size of portfolio to be determined.Identify at least 10 planned giving prospects a year with a goal to commit 1-3 a year.Work alongside the CDO and Development team to plan and execute major campaigns. Including, but not limited to: North Texas Giving Day, End of Year Campaign, and other annual appeals.Collaborate on the execution of an effective stewardship plan to engage donors of all levels, but especially major gifts, to ensure our donors feel valued and connected to organization's impact - ultimately moving toward more revenue.Work closely with the development team, board members, key volunteers, and other influencers to leverage networks and enhance individual giving efforts.Represent Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity at donor-focused and facing events, community gatherings, and networking opportunities to foster relationships and promote the organization's mission.Support internal fundraising events as needed.Monitor and report on major gift and foundation fundraising progress, providing insight and recommendations for ongoing strategy refinement.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Knowledge of major gift fundraising techniques with a history of meeting and exceeding goals.Experience in managing a portfolio of donors, specifically major gifts.Self-motivated, with the ability to work under pressure, report up, and independently initiate contact with donors and prospects.Strong negotiation and overcoming objection skills.Salesforce experience preferred, but not required.Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.Education and/or Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field.3-5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience.A demonstrated track record of meeting and exceeding goals.An ability to participate in and facilitate team, donor and committee meetings.An ability to represent Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity with diverse audiences and communities.Working knowledge of the Dallas County philanthropic landscape.
