A prestigious law firm located in San Diego, CA, is seeking a Senior Energy Development Attorney with 7+ years of experience to support their growing energy development practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy transactions, project development, and legal contract work. This role involves working closely with clients on energy projects, ranging from traditional to renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, natural gas, and bioenergy projects.Duties:Lead and manage energy project development, including due diligence and legal documentation.Draft, review, and negotiate energy-related contracts such as EPC agreements, supply contracts, and O&M contracts.Collaborate with clients and legal teams on complex transactions in the energy sector.Provide legal guidance on compliance with international trade restraints, including tariffs, AD/CVDs, and WROs, and their impact on project development.Advise on power purchase agreements and site control documentation for distributed energy projects.Ensure high-quality, client-ready documents are produced independently.Requirements:A minimum of 7+ years of experience in energy law, specifically focusing on energy transactions and project development.Expertise in energy project financing, transactional due diligence, and legal documentation related to energy infrastructure.Strong understanding of power purchase agreements and regulatory compliance within the energy industry.Education:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Certifications:Active membership in the California State Bar.Skills:Strong knowledge of energy transactions, including renewable and traditional energy projects.Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.Intellectual curiosity with a commitment to understanding client goals and project outcomes.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a collaborative team.Client-focused with a dedication to providing high-quality service.
