Job Overview:A prominent law firm is seeking an Energy Associate with 1-4 years of experience to join its Washington, D.C. office. This role requires strong knowledge of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) practice and a background in oil/natural gas pipeline regulation or regulated energy markets. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong writing and interpersonal skills, capable of advising clients on energy market participation, capacity market issues, and power supply arrangements.Location:Washington, D.C.Duties:Provide legal counsel on energy market and capacity market participation.Advise clients regarding FERC matters, oil/natural gas pipeline regulation, and ISO/RTO market stakeholder proceedings.Draft legal documents, including briefs and memoranda, related to energy regulation and disputes.Conduct research on regulated energy markets and assist with compliance and litigation matters.Collaborate with clients to address issues related to power supply arrangements.Participate in client meetings, negotiations, and strategy development.Requirements:1-4 years of experience in energy law, particularly in FERC practice or oil/natural gas pipeline regulation.Knowledge of ISO/RTO market stakeholder proceedings and regulated energy markets.Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.Admission to the District of Columbia Bar.Education:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Certifications:Admission to the District of Columbia Bar.Skills:Expertise in FERC practice and regulated energy markets.Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.Strong client communication and advisory skills.Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.Experience in advising clients on energy market participation and power supply arrangements.
