About the Role:

The Engineer is a critical technical role at Kinetic, responsible for maintaining and enhancing the integrity and reliability of our power and environmental telemetry systems across the national network. This position involves diagnosing and resolving complex issues within the core network’s infrastructure, specifically related to power and environmental controls. By leveraging advanced data analysis and collaborating effectively with various teams across engineering, field operations, and the NOC, this role is crucial for ensuring Kinetic's operational excellence.

The successful candidate will be proactive in working with both internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement cutting-edge telemetry technologies and methods. This engagement with emerging technologies is key to driving ongoing improvements and ensuring the resilience of Kinetic’s network operations.

What You’ll Do:

Telemetry Maintenance and Enhancement:

Ensure comprehensive coverage and functionality of power and environmental alarm telemetry across Kinetic’s Core network.

Regularly assess and upgrade telemetry systems and procedures to enhance network reliability and efficiency.

Issue Diagnosis and Resolution:

Utilize advanced analytical skills to identify, investigate, and resolve issues impacting the network’s core infrastructure, including facilities, power, and environmental controls.

Implement corrective actions and strategies to prevent recurrence of issues.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

Work closely with various engineering departments, field operations, and NOC teams to coordinate efforts aimed at maintaining and improving network reliability.

Act as a technical liaison between the power and environmental NOC and other organizational units to ensure a cohesive operational strategy.

High-priority and Hazardous Condition Response:

Provide critical support during high-profile outages or hazardous conditions, ensuring rapid response and resolution to maintain network integrity and safety.

Technology and Methodology Innovation:

Stay informed on the latest industry technologies and trends related to network power and environmental controls.

Evaluate and recommend new telemetry methods and technologies for adoption, aiming to future-proof Windstream’s network against evolving challenges.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and detailed records of telemetry performance, issue resolution activities, and system upgrades.

Prepare and present reports to management and stakeholders on telemetry system status, improvements, and challenges.

Training and Knowledge Sharing:

Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance personal technical skills and share knowledge with team members.

Contribute to the development of training materials and procedures for the power and environmental NOC.

Do You Have?

Technical Skills and Knowledge

Technical Versatility: Thorough understanding of AC and DC power plants and HVAC systems. Familiarity with a variety of network hardware and software platforms, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.

Telemetry and Monitoring Expertise: Proficiency in the tools and technologies used for monitoring and managing power and environmental conditions within a network operations center.

Network Operations Proficiency: Deep understanding of transport, IP, and voice networks, including protocols, configuration, and troubleshooting. Experience in installing, provisioning, and maintaining these networks is essential.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Advanced ability to analyze complex network issues, including those related to power and environmental factors, and devise effective solutions.

Regulatory and Standards Awareness: Understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements affecting network operations, power systems, and environmental controls.

Personal Qualities:

Collaboration and Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on building productive relationships across diverse technical and operational teams.

Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical issues clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences.

Proactive Approach: Initiative in identifying potential issues or improvements within network operations, with a focus on prevention and continuous improvement.

Detail Orientation: Meticulous attention to detail in monitoring network performance, identifying discrepancies, and implementing precise solutions.

Working Conditions:

Eligible for current Telecommuting (WFH) practices.

Willingness to work on evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required by workload.

Willing to travel for both internal meetings and vendor meetings.

On-Call and additional responsibilities designed to support key administrative and technical operations in the absence of management.

Minimum Requirements: Education and Experience: College degree in Engineering or a related field and 2-4 years professional level experience; or 6+ years professional level related Engineering/Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Engineering/Technical experience required.

The pay range for this job is $63,400 to $83,200.
