We're extremely proud of our portfolio of brands, our achievements in sustainability and industrialization and the groundbreaking work accomplished by our people.The Buyer role provides specialized purchasing/tactical sourcing services and support (requisition development, request for quote, purchase order development, and some limited supplier development for smaller dollar/non-critical suppliers) for low to medium dollar/complex spend requisitions and to ensure order fulfillment requirements for medium to high complexity purchasing requirements.What you'll be doing:Facilitate and manage a procurement process for general, low to moderate complex buys for Company end usersSupports requisition development and purchase order placement for non-catalog requisitionsExecute a standardized Company procurement methodology, drawing upon wider category knowledge when required to determine optimal approachCreate and manage agreements, using Company-specified terms and conditions, standards and agreement templates, for the provision of specific goods or services in line with the business needs of the end user.Obtain best value for money solutions, through execution of a standardized sourcing methodology and use of appropriate Sourcing tools and practices.Support Company Plant Purchasing Mgrs. and Category Manager teamAccountable for maintaining quality and service standards to support the overall customer relationships and to deliver continuous improvementDevelop and distribute tactical buy sourcing pipeline to ensure visibility of tactical sourcing opportunitiesAnalyze Requirements -Analyze the sourcing request, establish pricing baseline, and understand end user requirementsPerform Supplier Analysis -Research supplier market to identify and understand the potential suppliers, with an awareness of industry trends and cost drivers, using data to fast-track this processReach Agreed Sourcing Approach for Tactical Buys-Estimate cost model for the sourcing opportunity. Develop initial proposal for the sourcing approach covering potential business lines and propose appropriate sourcing toolsScreen Suppliers, Build Selection Criteria & Evaluate -Identify, rank and weight supplier selection criteria, accounting for regulatory and legal issues in the supply areaConduct RFx and Review Bids -Use agreed standard Company framework or tender documents for short listed suppliers as appropriate, and tailor if appropriate in association with Company legal and local Purchasing and Commodity ManagersBuild negotiation plans and executeManage Contract Process -Create and use necessary sourcing tools (including RFIs, RFPs, pricing grids, specification summaries) incorporating standard terms to obtain pricing information from suppliersIssue, collect and analyze supplier responses and populate decision matrix / prepare business case to facilitate supplier selectionFinalize supplier selection and execute supplier agreements in accordance with business requirements and agreed upon sourcing approachBuild and support relationships with Commodity Managers, Plant Purchasing Managers, Finance, other internal departments and select suppliersThis position is located at our Corporate Headquarters in beautiful Hartsville, SC and close to exciting destinations (Myrtle Beach, SC Charleston, SC, Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC).We'd love to hear from you if:Bachelor's degree with a major in business, supply chain, or engineering.3+ years of experience in Purchasing processing. Global experience preferred.Experience in interfacing with business operational customers in defining Purchasing and Sourcing service requirementsExperience in Purchasing and Sourcing process improvementsKnowledge of Coupa or equivalent system procurement and supply chain modulesExperience in process improvement activitiesProject management experience preferredProficient in using Microsoft Office suiteMust be fluent in English; Spanish, German, French or Portuguese is a preferred secondary languageSupervisory experience is considered a plusThis is a progression position and could be a level I, II or III. Compensation and progression level will be based on candidate's experience and education, and current business needs.Compensation:The annual base salary range for a Supply Chain Buyer Specialist I is from $51,040 to $57,420.The annual base salary range for a Supply Chain Buyer Specialist II is from $62,560 to $70,380.The annual base salary range for a Supply Chain Buyer Specialist III is from $80,320 to $90,360.At Sonoco Products Company, we offer a comprehensive total rewards package, including competitive pay and benefits.
