POSITION SUMMARY:This position reports to the Criminal Justice Information Manager and is responsible for researching various databases to ensure information received or disseminated is accurate and complies with state and federal requirements. This position independently researches and reviews information to make recommendations on firearms transaction decisions. This position is also responsible for applying federal and state disqualifiers as well as maintaining, organizing, and prioritizing their own workflow. This position must meet and maintain Florida and National Crime Information Center (FCIC/NCIC) certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Specific duties include:Maintaining regular contact with local, state, federal and other criminal justice agencies outside the state of Florida, as well as non-criminal justice agencies for the purpose of gathering required documentation to gain clarification as needed for decisions and record modifications;Conducting research for relevant information from multiple databases and resources;Analyzing multiple source documents to form a recommendation and decision for firearm related transactions;Providing documentation to external criminal justice partners to support updates to criminal justice systems;Ensuring internal documentation for criminal justice information updates including extensive notation and markup to justify recommended updates to criminal history records;Resolving difficult, unusual, or questionable issues in the review and processing of criminal justice information;Prioritizing assigned tasks and managing case load per policy and/or direction from management as assigned in the Computerized Criminal History workflow.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication;Knowledge of the criminal justice system;Knowledge of the methods of data collection;Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data;Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures;Ability to monitor criminal justice information activities;Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments;Ability to communicate effectively;Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.BASE SALARY:$41,200.00HOW YOU WILL GROW:FDLE recognizes the importance of growth and success while fostering a family-oriented work environment.
