is seeking one (1) regular full time

Project Coordinator - Creative Community Development

in Oakland, CA.Summary:The Project Coordinator will be responsible for supporting EBALDC’s Neighborhood Collaborations work. In particular, the Project Coordinator will provide support in two key areas: 1) backbone convener support for neighborhood collaboratives in East Oakland, West Oakland, and/or Chinatown and 2) implementation of creative community development projects and programs within Oakland.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Community Engagement and Outreach: engage residents and local groups to participate in collaborative and programmatic activities using a broad range of resident engagement strategies including arts, culture, and creativity.

Community Partnerships: Identify opportunities to cultivate, support, and strengthen relationships with East Oakland, West Oakland and/or Chinatown community partners such as churches, grassroots organizations, local businesses, artists, schools, etc. to advance the collaborative’s goals through working together on specific strategies such as creative actions, events, or programs.

Project & Program Management: support in day-to-day communications and administration for the EBALDC’s Collaboratives and for creative projects and programs within the Neighborhood Collaborations department. This may include creative project design, idea visualization, budgeting, research, outreach, coaching residents on project management, managing consultants and teams. Work with NC staff on facilitation of collaborative group meetings and support collaborative partners to implement projects, programs, and events.

Data & Evaluation: Support resident and partner project leaders in evaluating their creative projects, grant reporting, and submitting internal reports on creative projects utilizing approved evaluation framework. Contribute to the development of new evaluation tools, frameworks, and practices.

Visibility & Communication: support in raising community awareness about EBALDC’s collaboratives, including attending relevant community events, developing and regularly updating relevant communication materials (e.g. newsletter, social media, summary documents). Support resident and partner project leaders in storytelling and raising the visibility of collaborative work and creative projects.

Other responsibilities as needed, including:Participation in EBALDC staff meetings and appropriate neighborhood collaboration meetings.

Data entry such as Salesforce and other programs as identified.

Participate in presentations and trainings.

Support senior staff with grant applications, materials, and management.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:A minimum of four years relevant work experience, including one or more years of community and project coordination experience.

Advanced project management skills.

Interest in designing and facilitating trainings and meetings; managing large work groups.

Experience working with diverse, low-income communities and the issues affecting low-income urban residents.

Ability to navigate complex environments and conversations, holding multiple perspectives across a diverse set of stakeholders and settings. Building deep and lasting relationships with residents and collaborative members.

Resourcefulness and resiliency; with the creativity and adaptability to find multiple paths and solutions to overcome challenges.

Ability to work independently and with a team.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with attention to detail in a demanding environment.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training in relevant field is highly desired (e.g. Architecture, Community Design, Urban Planning, Arts).

Experience and/or familiarity with the East Oakland, West Oakland and/or Oakland’s Chinatown communities is highly desired, though not required.

Proficiency in MS Office required. Graphic design software (Adobe CS) proficiency strongly preferred.

Ability to speak a second language, particularly Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to travel to various locations in Oakland and the Bay Area generally.

Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for community meetings or events.

Ability to participate in light construction, artistic, or craft activities and lift items up to 25 pounds.

Ability to manage volunteers, and lead teaching light construction, artistic or craft activities is a plus.

Physical Demands:This job requires simple grasping and fine manipulation, sitting at a desk and using a computer for extended periods of time, moderate use of telephone, standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Requires ability occasional lifting or moving of objects up to 25 pounds. Also required is:Ability and willingness to assist with event set up, such as moving tables and lifting boxes.Ability to sit in a chair for long periods of time.Ability to walk up and down stairs to outreach to residents.Salary Range:Project Coordinator: $53,000 - $60,000 annually.Benefits and Other Information:EBALDC offers excellent benefits.
