JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36Work Shift: 7pm-7am
Summary of the Job:Responsible for the performance of all therapeutic and diagnostic procedures available through the respiratory department with complete understanding of the equipment, supplies, indications, and contraindications for use, and physiological effects upon the patient.
Minimum qualifications:
Successful completion of a CoARC approved school of Respiratory Therapy/Cardiopulmonary Science.
Current Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered or Certified Respiratory therapist.
Current license by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a licensed respiratory therapist.
Current BLS and ALS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
NICU and PICU experience along with NRP and PALS certifications are highly preferred.
Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands:Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.Physical Effort required:Constant (67%-100%) - talking, hearing, seeingFrequently (34%-66%)- stooping, crouching, reaching, handling/feelingOccasionally (1%-33%)- lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), balancing
