Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with the management of our regular accounting functions and supporting the business activities of our partners and carriers. Significant areas of responsibility include but not limited to involvement in end-of-month financial statement preparation, review of accounts payables and receivables, completion of general ledger schedules, and analyzing financial/operational reports related to the business activities of our partners.
General Responsibilities:Assist in the preparation of financial statementsCompile bank reconciliations and account schedulesVerify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivableSupport month-end and year-end close processDevelop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controlsAssist with preparation of budgets and forecastsSpot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spendingReview and recommend modifications to accounting systems and proceduresPrepare financial statements and produce budget according to scheduleAssist with tax audits and tax returnsDirect internal and external audits to ensure complianceAnalyze and report on component material, labor, and overhead costs to enable the management team to improve overall efficiency, quality, and profitabilityEstablish effective communication lines with other departmentsOther duties as assignedRequirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. CPA and/or MBA preferredThorough knowledge of basic accounting conceptsIn-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneouslyExperience in NetSuite preferredExcellent organizational and time management skillsEvidence of well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills.Advanced MS excel skills preferredAbility to problem-solve and use critical thinkingAbility to handle conflict in a professional and courteous mannerExcellent verbal, electronic, and written communication, and customer service skillsMust be flexible and adapt to most any situationAbility to utilize technology devices, software and application, previous experience with Microsoft Office Suites and basic computer skills requiredReliable high speed home broadband internet connection with minimum 25 meg download and 10 meg upload speeds and ability to connect to home internet via ethernet cord is required if working remotelyAbility to travel, less than 10%
