OverviewRES is seeking an Engineering Manager to oversee and mentor a team of engineers in the development, design, and implementation of water resources and other nature based environmental engineering projects, ensuring adherence to contracts, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. This position will be based out of our Orlando, FL or Fort Lauderdale, FL office locations, but hybrid work is available.
The Mission: Lead a team of engineers, providing direction based on client needs, and developing a sales strategy for projects and contracts. The role involves effective communication, report writing, and alignment with state and federal permit requirements for water resource systems.
What your day-to-day might look like?
Serving as the decision maker for the team’s day-to-day and long-term operations, including assigning work, providing technical support for work product consistency with internal and external client requirements, ensuring that projects are coordinated among staff to support Project Managers and following standard industry and RES practices, policies, processes, and guidelines.
Workload planning, monitoring, coaching, and counseling team members to improve individual and group performance.
Be accountable for managing staff resources strategically and tactically to ensure execution and alignment of team operations with the Region’s business plan and strategies.
Setting workload priorities and reallocating resources as necessary to effectively respond to unplanned events and special work requests approved within the Region’s annual business plan or strategy.
Review and assess the feasibility, soundness, and compliance with contracts, standards, pertinent federal and state regulations, and laws of all proposed engineering evaluations and products developed by the team.
Writing and reviewing technical reports.
Keeping abreast of industry trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and technology improvements and sharing such knowledge with the Division/Region.
Identifying and winning engineering and related contracts through governmental and private sector clients.
Qualifications
8+ years of applicable experience that demonstrates career progression in discipline and supervisory roles that can be applied to support RES’ mission.
Professional Engineering (PE) license.
B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering (emphasizing water resources engineering, agricultural engineering, or related engineering).
Superior writing, communication, and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, MS Project) with attention to detail.
Ability to effectively focus on various tasks to produce quality results within deadlines.
Ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs.
Knowledge in the development, evaluation, design, and implementation of water management systems.
Knowledge in the development of scoping documents, budgets, and development.
Knowledge of State and Federal permitting regulations.
Knowledge of Industry best management practices.
Experience in mentoring and management of staff.
