POSITION OVERVIEW

The Principal Systems Engineer will provide subject matter expertise in systems engineering and analysis for complex systems development. Collaborate and build trusting relationships with clients through delivery and thought leadership. Lead team activities across life cycle systems engineering processes from stakeholder needs through validation. Analyze complex systems, processes, and organizational architectures to improve development activities and outcomes. Assess the current state and identify essential elements to provide high-value solutions. Pioneer innovative methods and lead integration and tailoring to improve program performance. Model complex systems and lead the evolution of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methods. Perform literature reviews and capture Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge in models using relevant modeling language(s) (SysML, UML, BPMN, Graphs, et al.). Facilitate shared human understanding and organizational learning through proficient communication, professional development, publishing, teaching, and mentoring.

INITIAL ENGAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Apply Systems Engineering knowledge and latest model based methods to aid complex system development

Help propagate model based methods as a model based systems engineering expert and catalyst

Help clients refine the current use of modeling methods. Create and incorporate plans, standards, and profiles

Capture knowledge of team members in system models including assumptions, rationale, requirements, and decisions

Integrate disparate modeling efforts to better predict system performance. Facilitate integration and/or federation of modeling activities

Lead change management to help clients transform current practices to model based methods. Assess toolset requirements and fitness

Mentor, train and collaborate closely with team members in sharing best practices and intellectual property

Articulate complex concepts and methods clearly to peers, teams, and executives

Generate reports, capability briefings, plans, and other required products

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications/Requirements

15+ years of engineering and technical leadership

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another STEM discipline

US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Excellent analytical and synthetical problem-solving skills

Proficient written and oral communicator with proven ability to influence key outcomes

Knowledgeable in development and acquisition processes (Automotive, Defense or other)

Exceptional computer skills and experience with modeling languages such as UML, SysML, and BPMN

Desired Qualifications

Automotive or robotic control systems experience, modeling of system behaviors and functional safety

Object Management Group (OMG) Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP)

INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional Certification (ASEP, CSEP or ESEP)

Previous use of engineering tools such as NoMagic MagicDraw, Teamcenter, DOORs, and others
