Key Responsibilities

The Parent Advocate will provide parent support exclusively to DCFS clients.

Affirm parenting skills and 1:1 coaching.

Help parents/caregivers or legal guardians structure positive time with their child(ren).

Plan affirming family activities.

Complete reports/maintain records.

Provide advocacy services, model effective communication/problem-solving skills, and link families to P & A resources.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field preferred. Candidates that are actively enrolled in undergraduate coursework will also be considered.

Qualifying candidates must have had former personal experience interacting with county systems such as: DCFS, DMH, Foster Care, Child Protective Services, Probation Department, Regional Center, Welfare Services, CalWorks, or similar services (either themselves or with youth under their care).

Current California Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the Agency's insurance carrier, if required by job duties.

The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary someone in this role may earn as an employee of The Help Group. Salaries will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to, professional and academic experience, certification, training, responsibilities of the position, and other business and organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees. Salary decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each hire. The Help Group reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. If your requirements fall outside of this range, you are still welcome to apply.
