The global supply chain also includes cultured and wild species from a network of trusted sources worldwide.Assists with the activities of the engineering support department regarding the mechanical operations, repair and maintenance functions for the vessel by performing the following duties personally:Essential Functions:Under direction, monitors the vessel’s engines, boilers, deck machinery, electrical, hydraulic, refrigeration and sanitary systems in accordance with Trident policy and local, state and federal laws and regulations.Stands underway and at anchor watches. Makes entries into log books.Assists in maintenance of all vessel systems.Must be able to follow specific directions in the case of an emergency. Can include launching a raft, donning an Immersion suit or life preserver, assisting in a response to fire or flooding.Under direction, must be able to maintain and repair deck/fishing equipment.Must be able to advise of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, and/or inter-departmental relations.Participates in required training to maintain qualifications and license compliance.Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.Additional Responsibilities:Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned by Assistant, Chief and/or Captain.Minimum Qualifications:Seafood or related industry experience preferred.One to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Appropriate licenses/permits of trade (e.g., CG license of appropriate horsepower, STCW, etc.) when required.Experience:1 year experience as wiper in the fishery being applied for.Current First Aid and CPR cards.Basic all-around engineering knowledge.Familiarity with production needs and willingness to work with vessel manager and Chief Engineer to support production.Special Training/Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software and word processing software.While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and peripheral vision.Mental Activities:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, speak, write and understand English and use customer service skills.
