Join our dynamic team at YMCA Camp Pine Crest, where every day is different, and you will always be engaged with meaningful work!The OP Food Services Coordinator works with both the Kitchen, OP, and Day Camp Teams to ensure lunch is prepped for Day Camp daily and that all trip food is organized and stocked for camper trips. The OP Food Services Coordinator will also be in charge of maintaining the cleanliness of the various kitchens and equipment and following established health and safety procedures in accordance with the Ministry of Health. The OP Food Services Coordinator will play an important role in the menu planning, preparation, dehydration, and packing of meals for campers, participants, and staff, providing leadership under the guidance of the Food Services Director to Trainers, Counsellors, MACKs, and Trippers. The food services team is diligent in working with campers and families who have allergies and dietary restrictions, ensuring that all campers have delicious and nutritious food throughout their stay at camp.In this role, you will:Plan and prepare meals; working with the food services director and OP coordinator to plan, prepare trip meals and serve Day Camp lunches in a fun and efficient way.Support camp out-tripping program; by overseeing and working with the food services director and OP coordinator to order, organize and prepare trip menus and meals.Maintain a high level of food safety practices; role modeling and ensuring all team members are following food safety practices, and camp policies and procedures.Ensure administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time including all paperwork associated with the kitchen, documentation supporting performance appraisals, accident/incident forms if required.Support with maintaining a clean kitchen; including washing dishes as required.Continuously build relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners.Responsible for food substitutions for campers with dietary restrictions and cultural needs; ensures awareness of guests’ food allergies and restrictions and provision of substitute food.Responsible for attending all staff trainings and meetings; showing up on time, and actively participating contributing to the development of all staff members.Ensure Health & Safety procedures, including outbreak management guidelines, are being followed and maintained; and shares with the staff team the duty of ensuring it is clean, organized, and safe to ensure the health & safety of all campers, staff, and volunteers.Act as a positive role model for all participants and fellow staff through embodying the values of the YMCA, Pine Crest’s guiding principles, YMCA policies and procedures, and Ontario Camps Association guidelines.Perform other duties as assigned.You bring:Experience working in a cook/hospitality position.Experience preparing food meant to be consumed in a wilderness trip environment.Standard First Aid & CPR-C, and Food Handler Certificate required by the first day of employment and valid until at least the last day of your contract.Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) & experience working with food allergies and dietary restrictions an asset.Experience supervising staff an asset.Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and be authorized to work full time hours (37.5 hours per week).Demonstrated ability to multi-task and be adaptable to change.Demonstrated organizational skills and detail-oriented.Excellent communication skills.Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team environment and independently to achieve optimal collective results.Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff, and volunteers.Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to both inexperienced and seasoned staff.Ability to deliver feedback in a timely, professional, and constructive manner.Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays required.Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging.If you are interested in this position and do not possess the necessary certifications and require assistance in attaining them, please indicate in your cover letter.
