Wilson College seeks a dedicated

Student Advocacy Coordinator

to join the Academic Success Center. This role is essential in fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment that empowers at-risk students to reach their academic potential. The Student Advocacy Coordinator will work one-on-one with students, addressing both immediate and long-term academic challenges, and will collaborate with peers to enhance student retention and success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Direct Support for At-Risk Students

(65%)Provide tailored academic counseling and skill development for students identified as underprepared or at-risk.Utilize evidence-based learning support strategies suited to diverse student populations, including students with disabilities, first-generation students, and student-athletes.Develop and implement Academic Success Plans for students on academic probation and those with low grades.Collaborate with ASC staff and campus stakeholders to connect students with comprehensive support resources.Document student progress accurately and consistently.Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training peer tutors to support student success.Academic Accommodation Support

(25%)

Proctor exams for students with testing accommodations, including extended time and distraction-reduced settings.Process academic accommodation requests, including those related to concussions.Center Outreach and Promotion

(10%)

Represent the Academic Success Center at campus events such as Accepted Students' Day, Orientation, and Faculty Day.Create and distribute promotional and educational materials to increase awareness and engagement with ASC resources.COMPETENCY :

Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse academic environment.Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a willingness to learn new software.Familiarity with the unique needs of online students, as Wilson College continues to expand online course offerings (WCOL).POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

Full-timeRegular office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pmSome work during evenings and weekends may be required.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :

Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.Preferred one or more years of experience in an educational settingTRAVEL :

Some travel for professional conferences, training, and support of any off-site locations
