Horizon Farm Credit is actively seeking an Accountant to join our team. Qualified candidate may work in the Westminster, MD or Mechanicsburg, PA branch location. Our ideal candidate is an experienced, analytical individual with strong communication skills, ability to multitask, and flexible to a changing work environment.
POSITION SUMMARY:
In this position, you will perform a wide range of complex accounting tasks to support the Financial Reporting process and the Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) process. You will be responsible for the preparation and oversight of internal and external required financial reports in compliance with regulatory agencies. Financial Reporting function includes financial statements, Board reporting, internal management reporting, as well as compliance with external regulators. You will be responsible for preparation and maintenance of Association internal ICFR program and assist with control audits. You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely posting of transactions to various systems and other duties as delegated. You will identify and make recommendations for enhancements which improve processing efficiencies. You will function under minimal supervision and will often provide guidance and training to accountants/staff .

Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or related field. CPA is preferred.
Experience
Generally, five to eight years of general accounting and audited financial statement experience preferred.
Skills
Possess excellent communications skills, both written and oral to represent the Association in a professional manner.Superior attention to details.Organize and complete multiple assignments within established deadlines.Manage competing demands.Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, and other softwares.Ability to initiate, organize and prioritize work required.Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.Must possess analytical skills that are inherently required in an accounting/financial environment.Must possess problem-solving skills necessary to solve routine accounting problems and make routine decisions.Strong organizational skills with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects/assignments and meet deadlines.Adaptable and flexible to a changing work environment.Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Who are we?
