YOUR CAREER OPPORTUNITY

The Director of Marketing & Communications is part of a high-functioning nonprofit dedicated to maintaining the vibrancy, health, and prosperity of the San Francisco Mission District for the Latino community. As part of an eight-person development and communications team, the Director of Marketing & Communications will be responsible for translating the organization's mission into strategic communications that support agency goals and programs. The Director will handle the development, management, direction, and administration of materials related to social marketing, executive visibility, brand enhancement, public relations, and media affairs for the organization. The Director oversees one bilingual Community Communications Manager.

Our ideal candidate is outgoing, a strong project manager, a relationship builder, a strategic thinker, and a gifted storyteller who is passionate about MEDA's mission to support the Latino community in the SF Mission District. This position is supported by a strong team and able to work and learn from seasoned professionals in the nonprofit field.

Please note: This position is a full-time, hybrid position and proof of full vaccination is required upon hiring. Candidates must be able to work 3 days in person at our headquarters, Plaza Adelante located at 2301 Mission St., San Francisco.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Implement strategies to garner earned media coverage (crafting pitches, press releases, and building relationships with reporters and public affairs teams across SF agencies)Refine, and execute an effective plan for social media platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and other e-communications, and work with other Development and Communications staff to determine social media needs and calendars and to engage the public and key stakeholders such as the media and funders.Explore, evaluate, and leverage emerging social media opportunities and tools to help strengthen MEDA's branding, outreach, and fundraising activities.Manage various contractors in delivering both proactive and responsive communications to support agency goals and programs, including design agencies, advertising agencies, freelance writers, videographers, and print/production vendorsPlan and implement the organization's marketing and communications strategy including tactics to reach specific audiences, messaging, budgeting, and production of collateralMonitor coverage of MEDA through various media sites, and produce reports and analysis on coverage and impact for the Management Team and BoardDevelop and execute crisis communication strategies to manage real-time issues effectively, ensuring transparent, timely, and accurate information reaches stakeholders and supports organizational reputation and resilienceApprove all marketing materials and collateralsTrain staff members as needed in media relations and the appropriate use of social mediaLead the branding, collateral design, and strategic vision behind the video for MEDA's annual galaSupport and manage visibility and communications for agency affordable housing open houses, groundbreaking, and ribbon-cutting ceremoniesEnglish verbal/written fluency required, & Spanish proficiencyYOUR KEYS TO SUCCESS

To perform successfully in this role, you will need to leverage these key qualifications:

Commitment to social, racial, economic, and gender justice. Experience working with social justice-oriented issues and organizations.Proven success as a marketing/communications and brand ambassador for a dynamic, fast-paced organization.Experience in a supervisory role.High-energy leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels.6+ years' experience in leading marketing and communications in either a national non-profit organization with a strong record of marketing and branding success, or in a corporate environment.Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or Communications, Business or a related field. Master's Degree a plus.Effective collaborator with all constituent groups including staff, Board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters.Strong demonstrated experience developing and implementing marketing strategies and plans.Excellent English writing/editing and verbal communication skills.Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial: enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.Critical thinking ability for high-level planning, analyzing, and problem-solving.Outcome-focused with the ability to effectively track and evaluate the impact of efforts, and to successfully lead projects through to completion according to schedule.Ability to work occasional nights and weekends as needed.YOUR MEDA EXPERIENCE
