Position Overview

The Director of Operations is a senior strategic role which involves overseeing the production and logistics operations in conjunction with supply chain operations, as well as the metrics and cost control involved in handling these goods. The Director of Operations also aligns the day-to-day operations with the overall strategic and growth initiatives of the business, implementing a well-planned and efficient workflow that meets or exceeds the expectations and needs of our staff and clients. They also oversee any facility projects, including improvements and upgrades for enhanced operational capacity, and generally works to make sure our organization is running as smoothly as possible.

The Director of Operations plays a central role in managing warehousing/storage of raw materials, overseeing the slitting and processing of finished goods, coordinating supply chain, and handling shipping & production supplies. Human resources tasks include determining needs, hiring employees, overseeing departmental managers & leads, assignment of employees and planning staff development.

The Director of Operations has a broad but extremely important role, and generally it includes monitoring and analyzing the current system of production and logistics and supply chain, while assessing its effectiveness and working out a strategy for improvement where needed. Innovation is critical to ongoing success as well, in keeping the company ahead of competing forces in the marketplace.

Role & Responsibilities:

Planning and controlling continuous improvement in Production and WarehousingAssist in strategic decision making with key players on the senior management teamOversee and support Logistics Manager in finding best & most cost-effective freight /logistics solutions and practicesHelping oversee and manage a complex Supply Chain involving extensive domestic and overseas vendorsProject management of smaller facility improvements in company-run locations (2)Researching new technologies and alternative methods of efficiency.Setting and reviewing main production & logistics budgets and managing costBuilding financial projections, charts and reports as needed for departmentRecruit, train and supervise operations staffFind ways to increase the quality of Customer Experience across the whole Operations spectrum, to better support Sales & Marketing effortsEnsure all operations are carried out in an appropriate, cost-effective wayImprove operational management systems, processes and best practicesHelp formulate strategic and operational objectives for departmentExamine production and logistics data and use them to improve profitabilityOversee warehouse and distribution of goods and facilities layoutsAssist designated manager with 3PL managementMonitor and work to improve production KPI'sWilling to travel 10% for occasional visits to other company locations, 3PL's, and clientsSchedule : Monday - Friday

Pay : Varies based on experience

Requirements

A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior operations roleKnowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations managementExperience in departmental budgetingProficient in business planning software and MS ExcelFamiliarity with business and financial principlesExcellent communication skillsLeadership abilityOutstanding organizational skillsEffective time management, prioritizing and delegationAbility to lead, coach, inspire, support and motivate your team and always to seek to improve best practicesBachelor's Degree or Technical Training in Business, Operations Management or related field desirable but not requiredSkills & Competencies:
