Team Overview and Job Responsibilities
What you'll do:
The Manufacturing Manager reports to the Plant Manager. This position is a key member of the plant leadership team, and is responsible for achieving all safety, quality, service, and cost objectives as identified in the business plan. The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for the manufacturing process to effectively use materials, labor, and equipment to meet production targets, achieve manufacturing strategic objectives, metrics, and process improvement initiatives and to lead the transition to operator led process control.
Additionally, the Manufacturing Manager is responsible for ensuring all health, safety and environmental standards are met; determining and executing training and development plans of salary and hourly associates; and achieving manufacturing objectives as identified in the business plan. This position is responsible for the manufacturing operation of a 655,000 square foot facility with a cost of production of $175 million. The Manufacturing Manager has 7 direct reports and is responsible for 150 unionized hourly associates.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
You will achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production goals at optimal cost and efficiency.
Work to improve operator flexibility in work assignments and strive to continually reduce labor costs.
Drive continuous improvement through appropriate coaching, training and process improvement initiatives.
Be a champion of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts and programs.
Work with the Materials group to optimize the production load, minimize downtime, optimize mix and reduce raw material and WIP inventories.
Work with the Engineering group to improve processes to achieve productivity goals and reduce all forms of waste/scrap.
Work with the Quality group to minimize escapes of non-conforming product and to enhance process controls and workmanship to meet customer quality requirements.
Determine appropriate skill sets for operators and define training schedules to maintain skill levels.
Coach and direct reports to achieve improved productivity and reduction of waste.
Develop and analyze KPI’s and initiate action when off-track.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline (from accredited 4-year program) – Required.
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment driving goals with various departments including: Continuous Improvement, Quality, Engineering, Materials, and Production - Required.
Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams toward common goals.
Strong familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies and lean manufacturing principles
