Talascend is currently seeking a Senior Database/UI Programmer for a contract opportunity located in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
OVERVIEW:
The Senior Database/UI Programmer will be responsible for implementing and supporting IT Information Technology and OT Operational Technology strategies, policies, and procedures. The Senior Database/UI Programmer will work with the Senior IT and OT Systems Administrator and will be responsible for supporting and developing various database systems including supporting real-time operational data flows using SQL Server and Historian applications such as GE Proficy OSIsoft PI, as well as data flows and database development to support the development of a data warehouse.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:Develop and maintain ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services.Develop and maintain SOAP Web Service Clients and Servers using EIDE specification.Administer and maintain OSI PI system infrastructure.Administer and maintain SQL Server databases.Participate in the development of Data Warehouse.Support real-time management of company IT and OT server infrastructure, apply patches, and perform upgrades as needed.Support the management of company IT and OT applications, including changes, upgrades, fixes, and user requests.Provide real-time support, manage, and optimize company IT and OT networks, network devices, and WAN connections.Support, manage, and optimize OT Power Systems Hardware and software configurations, upgrades, and approved changes.Review, draft, and update IT and OT system application and network documentation following proper control standards for CIPS information.Support the implementation of IT and OT policies and procedures with a focus on physical and logical security and compliance CIPS.Manage tasks related to Cyber Security Support and various IT-related audits.Document existing data infrastructure and update documentation as necessary.Administer reporting applications, including changes, upgrades, fixes, and security.Plan for and deploy new systems and applications in a consistent manner.Provide user support as needed.Responsible for contributing to a positive work environment and upholding and promoting Company tenets: Accountability, agility, communication, compliance, continuous improvement, integrity, ownership, respect, results, safety, teamwork, transparency, and trust.Assist in other departmental needs as they arise.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Strong communication skills, ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to program in C, C#, and/or Visual Basic.Knowledge of MS Windows server and workstation operating systems.Knowledge of virtual machine design, best practices, management, and troubleshooting (MS Hyper-V, VMware, and Nutanix AOS).Knowledge of security best practices; compliance experience is a plus (CIPS, PCI, etc.).Knowledge of workstation and server build best practices and hardening guidelines.Knowledge of IT and OT networking concepts including routers, firewalls, wireless, and security best practices.Experience with OT Power Systems (RTUs, DCSs, etc.).Familiarity with OT communications protocols.Experience with Historian applications such as GE Proficy or OSIsoft PI system and associated application suite is a plus.Experience with Alstom e-terra platform.Familiarity with network and patch panel wiring, server room design, and maintenance.Ability to easily adapt to variable or changing requirements and user needs.Ability to work well independently and complete responsibilities with little or no supervision.Ability to write clear and concise design documentation, schema definitions, and user documentation.Ability to clearly communicate to users and management about issues, upgrades, and new systems.Strong project and time management skills; ability to drive projects to completion and to meet deadlines.Strong attention to detail and quality control.Highly motivated self-starter, proactive, and willing to take initiative.Professional verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with company management, accounting staff, other departments, clients, and vendors.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Ability to simultaneously manage several projects, pay attention to details, and think creatively.Hands-on work ethic.Technical College degree from an accredited institution.2 years of experience in database administration or related field.Expert knowledge of MS SQL Server and its management suite and associated tools.Expert knowledge of SSIS or other automated ETL tool.Expert knowledge of GE Proficy OSIsoft PI system and application suite or capacity to learn.Familiarity with SOAP and WCF technology.Familiarity with data modeling and data warehousing best practices.Energy industry experience a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:This position will be based at the Corporate Office in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.Travel
This position is primarily office-environment based with substantial sitting and limited standing or walking required.Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer by viewing computer monitors and typing.Occasional lifting, carrying, and/or moving items up to 30 pounds at times.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
