The Snake Oil Crew is made up of young professionals with a passion for culinary exploration, from craft cocktails to farmers markets and fine dining. There’s a wealth of knowledge between us and we’d love to share what we know about cocktails, events, food and beverage culture, and industry trends. You’ll share an office with our stellar sales, marketing, and event operations teams, have your own desk, and a laptop. We love coffee, planning events, and sharing food - usually donuts (and Pizza).Perks of the job (aside from surrounding yourself with some pretty awesome people) include attending special events in San Diego, networking with professionals in the industry, the occasional pizza party, mocktail tastings, and a hands-on approach to learning more about the events/marketing world. Depending on your interests and career goals, we’ll tailor your internship so you get the most out of your internship.Job Description
You will learn first-hand the ins-and-outs of the cocktail and special events industry and what it takes to succeed as a small business. Our team will help you with your business, marketing, and event industry skill building and provide a great resume reference through your work in the world of culinary & luxury events.Responsibilities
Learn how a variety of event types are pitched, planned and implemented.Support the Sales, Operations, and Marketing teams with various projects that help events succeed.Learn to use event planning software, web programs, and apps to help manage events.Maintain event files and records, help with process improvements.Hands-on logistics training on how to order supplies, ensure the right staff are attending the event, and how to manage event teams.Attend events at our venue Julep Venue or at offsite special events to supplement onsite staff and client needs.Ensure compliance for special events by learning how to fill out and file permit applications.Help design menus for events & small marketing materials.Learn to manage a dynamic website, make changes to and design web pages.Learn to create successful social media campaigns across multiple platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, SOCC Blog, and Website.Attend local San Diego events and support our events teams in action.Research & source new vendors, suppliers, & strategic partners for event or marketing initiatives.Write intriguing content for SOCC Blog.Work with the creative team on photoshoots and special event activations.Requirements
Skills and Qualifications
Enthusiasm & drive to succeed.Creative & out-of-the-box thinker.Outgoing personality type and excellent communicator.Professional demeanor, very organized, dependable, honest & ethical.Must work well in a team environment with multiple deadlines.Ability to work different types of shifts, including office hours and events on evenings and weekends.Knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, Yelp, YouTube, etc).Tech-savvy: familiarity with Mac platform, Google Drive (Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite would be amazing!).Strengths are strong organization, communication, customer service, hospitality-minded approach to business, collaborative and accountable.Internships will be paid a stipend so Intern MUST be able to receive college credit.Preferences
Experience in the hospitality, food & beverage, and/or restaurant industry.
