Get to know Children's Mercy!The Assistant Nursing Department Director, in collaboration with and under the direction of the Nursing Director, is accountable for ongoing leadership and operations of a clinical department and for nursing care safety and quality. The Assistant Department Director uses sound human resource and budget principles to guide the daily provision of nursing services to patients and families. The Assistant Department Director supports comprehensive patient and family services through effective participation with the inter-professional team.Children's Mercy has the only Level I pediatric trauma center in the region - our Adele Hall campus ED has 39 beds, with staffing support from 150 nurses and technicians, 40 APRNs, and over 40 physicians. We treat over 65,000 patients per year. Our 39 exam rooms include 4 trauma rooms; 3 orthopedic rooms; 3 major medical rooms; 4 triage rooms; and a Nurse Practitioner-led minor care area with 10 beds and a separate waiting room for those patients. We have a family room and private waiting room to offer privacy to families at difficult times. We have three zones (Red, Yellow, and Green) and nurses are scheduled in 4-hour blocks, typically rotating to zones once or twice in their shift.At Children's Mercy, we are committed to ensuring that everyone feels welcomed within our walls. Collaborates with the Nursing Director to provide leadership for nursing staff and the inter-professional patient care team to support high quality care of patients and families.

Collaborates with the Nursing Director to provide the personnel, workplace, and technology resources necessary for the provision of safe, high quality patient and family care.Assists with the application of new knowledge and innovation to advance improvements at the department level.Assists to effectively manage the department operating budget, identifies and recommends capital expenditures, and plans new programs or services.Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree BSN required and 3-5 years experience Clinical nursing experience and progressive experience in leadership roles.

OR Master's Degree preferred A master's degree in nursing may be accepted in lieu of a BSN.
