Position : VMWare EngineerPosition Summary:Our company is seeking a VMWare Engineer to join our team of passionate individuals. In this role, you will support challenging, mission-critical projects that make a direct impact on the nation's security and intelligence mission.The general office environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.Clearance Eligibility: Active DoD - Top Secret/SCI with Full Scope PolySalary:The salary offered will depend on education, certifications, length and relevance of work history, and professional experience.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Administration and optimization of existing hosts and servers to ensure a high degree of availability and appropriate resource management.Research, recommend, and implement strategies and hardware and software products to build upon a highly complex infrastructure that supports the changing needs of our customers.Design, develop, integrate, and maintain complex systems for every stage of a lifecycle.Reliably deliver mission-critical infrastructure with an eye toward accessibility, optimization, and security.Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining VMWare products including, but not limited to, ESXi, vCenter, VSAN, and NSX.Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining VDI environments, specifically VMWare Horizon View.Experience with networking concepts such as routing, switching, encryption, and firewalls.Experience working with desktop and server hardware and peripherals.Experience with scripting languages (Windows PowerShell, BASH, VMware PowerCLI, etc.)

COMPETENCIES:Implement operational view, technical standard view, and system and services view for architecting application DoDAF standards.Review and /or approve system engineering documentation to ensure that processes and specifications that meet system needs are accurate, comprehensive, and complete.Capture all interface designs in a command interface control format and store interface data in a commonly accessible repository.Assess each risk to the program, determine the probability of occurrence, and quantify the consequence of failure under an approved risk management plan.Prepare time-line analysis diagrams illustrating the flow of time-dependent functions.Support the planning and test analysis of the DoD Certification/Accreditation Process (as well as other Government Certification and Accreditation (C&A) Processes).Support the development and review of Joint Capability Integration Development Systems (JCIDS) documents (i.e., Initial Capability Document, Capabilities Description Document, IA Strategy).Develop scenarios (threads) and Operational Concepts that describe the interactions between the system, the user, and the environment that satisfy operational, support, maintenance, and disposal needs.Conduct quantitative analysis in non-functional systems performance like Reliability, Maintainability, Vulnerability, Survivability, Produce ability, etc.Education and Certification Requirements:Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university. Additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.SEC+CE or equivalent.Background and Experience:Fourteen years' experience as a Systems Engineer (SE) in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. An additional five (5) years of SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree for a total of 19 years of SE experience.Experience working with desktop and server hardware and peripherals.Experience with scripting languages (Windows PowerShell, BASH, VMware PowerCLI, etc.)Experience with reading/implementing STIG guidance, hardening, and maintaining systems.Experience with installing, configuring, maintaining, and using Atlassian products such as Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, etc.Knowledge of or experience with how data center systems are interconnected and interrelated. Ability to explain how disparate data center technologies work together.Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g., Python, Perl).Ability to explain complex abstraction layer designs and troubleshooting steps.Ability to work independently while being conscious of how your work interacts with that of others.Ability to work flex and overtime hours with some weekend hours expected.Ability to solve problems quickly and completely; analytical problem-solving skills; adept at root-cause analysis and mitigation.Possess drive, enthusiasm, and attention to detail.Effective communication, writing, documentation, and requirements-gathering skills are needed to be effective in this role for working with other members of the Team and with the Customer to meet the requirements of the program.Required Technical Skills:Ability to evaluate the need for any messaging system reconfigurations (minor or significant)Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining VMWare products including, but not limited to, ESXi, vCenter, VSAN, and NSX.Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining VDI environments, specifically VMWare Horizon View.Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining physical and virtual Windows and Linux servers and desktops.Experience with networking concepts such as routing, switching, encryption, and firewalls.Experience with TCP/IP networking, networking architecture, and its interrelation to desktops, servers, and operating systems.Experience with packet capture and network analysis tools.Experience with network security principles, threats, and vulnerabilities.Experience with monitoring solutions and data center operations.Understanding of Software Defined Networking & Micro-segmentation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:General office environment. Work is generally sedentary but may require movement about the office for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable.
