This role is for a
Construction Project Manager
with a large-scale industrial background and expertise in indirect/site-operations management.
The Role:
As Area Project Manager, you will be playing a critical role in construction of novel battery chemical plant(s) near Corpus Christi, TX. You will be responsible for delivering capex projects by working cross-functionally with various internal and external stakeholders, supporting end users, collaborating with construction engineering, while ensuring your projects are ahead of schedule and under budget.
Responsibilities:
Create a roadmap for project success, understanding all the components of your projects and finding ways to meet project deliverablesResponsible for managing, coordinating, and administering site construction and supporting activities, including planning, procurement, construction, start-up, and prime contract close-outOverall responsibility for project execution, ensuring that the project is delivered within contract requirements and Tesla standards of quality and safetyWrite detailed and effective bid packages, ensuring seamless delivery of your project and always finding the best value for TeslaSupports selection of partners and suppliersPromote a safe and quality driven culture, both project and company wideDeliver projects ahead of schedule, enabling your teams and counterparts to solve problems and prioritize execution by company needsTrack and understand all project costs at a fundamental level, challenge yourself and cross functional teams to drive costs down, and suggest value engineered proposals with thorough first principles analysisManage budgets and schedules, manage performance, report progress, and initiate action to assure project objectives and schedules are met and work is performed within budgetDetermine cost codes, approve invoices and make necessary budget management decisionsUse efficient and aesthetic communication methods to escalate roadblocks or communicate successes as necessaryEmploy a can-do attitude, ensuring all stakeholders are engaged and aligned to the project’s goalsProvide the best product for your respective project’s customer or end users, keeping projects moving forward and addressing concerns as they ariseManage coordination with the engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and commissioning team
Qualifications:
5+ years of relevant industry experience (heavy industrial, oil & gas, complex chemical plants) in a PM role – on the Indirect sideIndirect experience – managing vendors onsite, T&M scopes, manager of small contracts such as onsite restrooms, water supply, maintenance requests, lighting, rental equipment, site servicesHaving local knowledge of contract, vendors, and previous relationshipsManaging vendor and suppliers locally, knowing good pricing, local markets.Analyzing data, strong in excel and data side of things.Experience going through the commercial aspects of scopes (preparing RFPs, scopes of work, bid evaluation, leveling contractor selection, contract management) – MUSTKnow how to fully manage a projectPrevious experience on $500M+ projectsProficiency in Construction baseline development, change control, cost/schedule performance and variance analysisExcellent written and verbal communication & presentation skillsProficient knowledge and proven delivery on Civil, Structural, and Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Life Safety and Controls ScopesWillingness to get your hands dirty as needed to complete objectives and lead through challenging projects.Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals.Have an inquisitive and open attitude to exploring new ideas and drive to continuously learnCapacity to go above and beyond to support Tesla’s mission as required
