Director of Financial Reporting

Position Overview:Our client, a leading financial services firm in Kansas City, is seeking a highly skilled Director of Financial Reporting to oversee and enhance their financial reporting processes. This leadership role involves managing the preparation of accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP and SEC regulations, leading a team, and working closely with executive management. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in financial services, a track record of success in financial reporting, and exceptional organizational and analytical abilities.Key Responsibilities:Direct the preparation of all quarterly, annual, and ad hoc financial statements in compliance with GAAP and SEC reporting standards.Oversee internal financial reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.Manage and mentor a team of financial reporting professionals, fostering a high-performance environment and supporting professional development.Collaborate with executive leadership, providing insights on financial performance, trends, and forecasts.Coordinate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.Develop and maintain reporting policies and procedures to optimize efficiency and control.Stay current on new accounting standards and regulations, assessing their impact on financial reporting and making recommendations as needed.Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation strongly preferred.Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in financial reporting, with at least 3-5 years in a management or leadership role.Prior experience in the financial services industry, with a deep understanding of GAAP, SEC regulations, and financial statement preparation.Demonstrated leadership ability with experience in team development and talent management.Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet tight deadlines.Proficient in financial reporting software and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.Why Join Us?This is a unique opportunity to take on a high-impact role within a respected financial services firm in Kansas City.
