you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. This position is for an individual with the experience, ability, and drive to lead tactical development projects that deliver embedded firmware applications.The Manager - Embedded Firmware will develop plans and execute simultaneous projects with high quality. The candidate will have experience leading both agile and waterfall development projects including project estimation and development execution. Background should include experience in several of the following: control theory, real-time processing for protection, message related communication protocols, embedded Linux, embedded Android, and associated toolchains. The candidate will have a proven track record of completing development projects on time and within budget.Key Responsibilities:Leading development teams to complete architecture, specifications, analysis, design, implementation, testing and related documentation for mission critical, grid automation software.Providing support for existing products to contract manufacturers and internal customer support groups (including RMAs and NMRs).Developing project schedules, task and project completion time estimates, then managing progress of the team against the schedule.Communicating effectively with project stakeholders at all levels and across disciplines to establish requirements, clear roadblocks, and to set meaningful objectives.Recruit, train, and mentor team members to meet personal, professional, and corporate performance objectives.Working with all levels of the organization to implement and sustain both innovation and product development processes.What you'll Need To Succeed:3 to 7 years managing embedded firmware development including experience managing direct-reports, generating work estimates and software development plans, running software development projects, supporting production lines & contract manufacturers, and providing RMA support.10+ years of experience in the design and development of real-time, mission critical embedded controller software.BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.Experience managing multidisciplinary teams to deliver embedded solutions involving several application areas.Line responsibility for team members in diverse geographical locations is a plus.Demonstrable knowledge of the design, coding, testing, verification, validation, and support of embedded microprocessor code to perform distributed control applications/functions. Additional experience in such applications over radio networks is a plus.Detailed, demonstrated knowledge and experience developing real-time applications in both open-source (Linux) and proprietary operating system-based environments. Experience with Android and Zephyr operating systems is a plus.Ability to travel up to 20% of the time with some periods lasting more than a week.Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: electric grid automation and control for utility applications; peer-to-peer communications techniques with various modalities and protocols; application of distributed intelligence in embedded control software; embedded web servers.Ready to make an impact and become an employee-owner?
