Position Summary:The Associate Technical Designer is responsible for the transition of products from design concept to production ready garments, while working to achieve the desired design and fit while maintaining construction and quality standards. This role works alongside the Product and Brand Development team and reports to the Senior Technical Designer.Essential Functions:
Work closely with Senior Technical Designer and Assist with creating and maintaining tech packs. Pass fit comments, release tech packs, and communicate all revisions to factoriesAssist with building technical specifications including technical illustration, construction details/seam specifications, measurement spec, and trim requirementsAssist with Fit Sessions to ensure products meet standards for grade rules, fit consistency, construction, and qualityCommunicate daily with global vendors to pass comments with clear and complete written and visual directionWork to optimize garment for fitting, performance, and costReview and approve color and trims as neededCreate or modify existing technical illustrations/sketchesMaintain sample storage organization for all development (including full samples, lab dips, strike-offs, etc.) and production samplesMeasure all prototypes, development, and preproduction garmentsCommunicate with overseas vendors for tech pack and sample development questions; Make appropriate recommendations in collaboration with Product and Brand Development on matters pertaining to specs, patterns, construction, and techniques to improve fit, balance, and overall quality of garmentsMust be able to effectively problem solve design, costing, and qualityCollaborates with cross-functional team to meet calendar deliverablesWork to establish QC processesIdentify opportunities for process enhancementsOther duties as assignedMinimum Experience:
2-4 years' work experience in Technical DesignKnowledge of men's wear construction is preferredIn-depth knowledge of fabric, apparel, materials, construction and fitProficient in Adobe Illustrator for technical illustration/sketches creation3D experience a plusEducational Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Apparel and Merchandising (or related degree)Combination of post-graduate education and related work experience is acceptableRequired skills:
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office productsWorking knowledge of pattern making and gradingAbility to juggle several job responsibilities and learn new systemsDetail-oriented and organizedAbility to work independentlyTeam-PlayerEmbodiment of these key values - humility, determination, growth-mindset, and respectful communicationWorking Conditions:
