JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Secretary will take directives from the immediate administrator. He/she should be courteous and helpful to students, parents, teachers, counselors, principals, administration and visitors. Will type, file, answer the telephone, take messages and ensure that they are relayed to the proper individual, keep records, and be effective at the organization of those combined skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs all usual office routines.Maintains all student records as shall be required.Keeps up to date information on each student in the Student Information System.Receives and routes incoming calls and takes messages.Maintains a daily teacher attendance log, and the concomitant records for substitute teachers.Arranges for substitutes when teachers are absent.Processes all changes and adjustments in student schedules and maintains them on the computer.Maintains a log of visitors to the school.Assists in the completion of reports, including daily attendance, nine weeks, semester and annual attendance.Types all of administrators' correspondence.Updates the yearly activities calendar and keeps it posted.Maintains inventory of supplies for teachers.Gathers information and types all yearly reports as designated by the administrator.Acts as custodian for site activity accounts.Records and codes all requisitions for activity and general funds.Performs all other duties as directed by the Superintendent or her/his designee.
