Mental Health Therapist

POSITION SUMMARY
The Mental Health Therapist provides counseling services to consumers and conducts diagnostic assessments under the supervision of a LICSW or APRN. The Therapist performs consumer and/or community focused resource coordination activities to ensure consumer and/or community members receive comprehensive care. This position requires a person with knowledge of mental health, and ability to communicate effectively with the consumer and families. The Therapist must also have background and knowledge of mental and behavioral health disorders and treatment planning skills. The Therapist must possess training and group facilitation skills, knowledge of related community resources, and the ability to collaborate with other community organizations and agencies.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Master's degree (MA or MS) or equivalent in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health or related field; two years related experience and/or training. Degree in Nursing.
- Licensed in the District of Columbia
- Both education and experience must meet the following experience criteria:
• Demonstrated ability to keep accurate and complete charts, client records, required data forms and processes.
• Demonstrated ability to perform additional duties such as facilitating client support groups, individual or group counseling, health education, and training.
• Demonstrated ability to represent the agency in a professional manner with collaborative groups.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform mental health, substance abuse and other risk assessments in accordance with program standards.
2. Develop counseling interventions in coordination with the client and/or their family.
3. Provide individual and group counseling.
4. Identify community resources, provide linkages to services, and coordinate services for clients.
5. Make referrals to appropriate services and follow up on referrals of targeted clients through phone calls, letters, and home visits; encourage and assist them in seeking appropriate care.
6. Complete comprehensive assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and other documentation in a timely manner.
7. Complete written documentation to program standards.
8. Meet billing requirements as set by the agency.
9. Participate in weekly individual and group supervision as required.
10. Attend trainings to expand knowledge of current intervention options.
11. Provide leadership and advocacy to promote the goals of Absolute Healthcare Resources by developing liaisons with other community service providers that promote comprehensive systems of care for children, adolescents and families.
