Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled individual to provide technical expertise and project management for building structure design projects. Responsibilities include:
  • Developing structural engineering design solutions for buildings and structures, aligning with project objectives and design criteria.
  • Collaborating effectively with design team members to ensure smooth communication and coordination.
  • Delivering accurate and complete structural designs within project timelines and budget constraints.
  • Assisting with task assignments, project management, contract proposals, and contributing to business development efforts.
  • Conducting engineering calculations, preparing technical reports, and ensuring the accuracy of structural drawings and details.
  • Performing field-related tasks such as structural condition inspections, site visits, and field inventories.
  • Upholding company quality control standards and safety protocols throughout project execution.
  • Reviewing construction shop drawings and submittals to verify compliance with design specifications.
  • Providing oversight by checking the work of others as assigned and certifying engineering design documents as necessary.


Requirements

  • Professional Registration: A Professional Engineer (PE) license in Massachusetts is required, with a preference for a Structural Engineer (SE) license.
  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil) with an emphasis on Structural Engineering is required. A Master's Degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience: 8-10 years of relevant work experience is necessary.
  • Project Leadership: Previous experience leading projects for organizations like MBTA or DCAMM in Boston, MA is highly valued.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in designing structural steel, concrete, wood/timber, and masonry components and framing systems is essential.
  • Client Relations: Demonstrated experience in building strong client relationships and managing complex projects is crucial.
  • Team Management: Proven ability to build and lead successful project teams.
  • Codes and Standards: Working knowledge of IBC, AISC, and ACI Building Codes is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Must be well-versed in industry practices, regulations, and current technology applicable to the project.
  • Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in computer-aided structural analysis/design software such as RISA 3D, Tekla, Fastrak, TEDDS, IES Quick Suite, and IES Visual Analysis is preferred.
  • Revit Knowledge: Familiarity with Autodesk Revit is beneficial.
