Call Notes:
The network architect will report to the engineering department.
The person is going to be involved in looking across both of their AWS footprints (one managed by a vendor and one managed internally).
Primarily looking at their aws 2.0 set of accounts.
Those are running independently of their 1.0 managed accounts with Accenture.
The person will be responsible for looking across and develop strategy, design, and implement plans for building out and modifying their enterprise network.
Will work in a hybrid environment.
Traditional data centers, partners, other vendors.
Needs both experience in tradition networking and aws networking.
Connectivity across aws and on prem data centers.
Will work with external vendors, patterning across different organizations.
Includes field service offices (san Antonio, ca..) those are in scope for this job.
One of the areas includes telecom and voice, that area of knowledge is good.
They have another network architect and they will be collaborating closely.
VPN on prem using cisco and cloud is aws.
Remote OK but should be available for travel to client on an as needed basis post-pandemic.
Vpn and firewall AWS strategy and collaborate and coordination with their infomation security team and other architects.
They are using palo alto.
Top 3 needs here is traditional data center centric networking expertise, LAN wan infrastructure, circuitry, routers, switches AND exp with AWS networking.
They are networking across on prem data centers and aws.
Also, design architectures and assist in the initial implementations.
Hands on early phase implementations.
PLUS is network security.
Description:
The Network Architect is responsible for leading the strategies, designs, and implementations of the enterprise wide network.
Working across hybrid (on-prem, cloud/multi-cloud) environments and multiple external vendors, the role articulates the vision and establishes the direction for networking solutions.
The role actively participates in and contributes to business and IT strategies to align network with company direction.
The role provides leadership for introducing and directing the implementation of current networking methods, services, and best practices.
Provide architectural guidance and plan, design, and upgrade core network services:
LAN and WAN Infrastructure: Circuitry, Routers, Switches for all locations (e.g., home location and all field service offices) and direct internet access points.
Firewall and Threat Protection: including direction on hardware and software currency, as well as security policy standards.
DDI (DNS. DCHP, IPAM): including internal and external as necessary and working with other partners such as Akamai and AWS.
VPN: Business-to-Business tunnels and end user VPN services.
Load Balancing: in both traditional on prem settings and in AWS.
Voice: circuitry, supporting MPLS with carriers, hard phones, soft phones, cell services, and audio conferencing.
24x7 network support as necessary
Lead the design and development of cloud network infrastructure and cloud services.
Assessing business and application requirements for corporate data and voice networks.
Successful candidates have current experience in the following:
Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS, DHCP and IPSEC or similar.
VPN implementations.
Network operating systems such as Cisco and PANOS.
Common Internet services/protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, HTTPS.
Linux systems and comfortable with tasks such as command line usage and network tools.
AWS networking including VPC, Transit Gateways, Private Link, Route 53, Firewall Manager, CloudFront, etc.
Multi-region, multi-site routing, peering, and disaster recovery network architectures.
Implementation of enterprise monitoring and management frameworks and tools.
Advanced knowledge of best practices related to data encryption and cybersecurity.
Advanced troubleshooting skills.
