Environmental Engineer - Senior Level - Remediation Focus (Hybrid)

Summary:
Barr is seeking a senior environmental engineer to join one of its Minnesota offices and undertake challenging and progressive work on projects related to the investigation, evaluation, and remediation of contaminated sites.
Work may include managing multidisciplinary teams; preparing technical work plans and reports; coordinating ASTM Phase I environmental site assessments, including in support of property transactions (e.g., acquisitions, divestitures); designing, implementing, and coordinating activities associated with Phase II investigations, including investigating contaminated soil, sediment, groundwater, and vapor intrusion; conducting remediation technology evaluations and feasibility studies; developing site management strategies, remedial design, and response action plans; and coordinating site remediation activities. Responsibilities will also include development of proposals, scopes of work, and budgets; communications, meetings, and negotiations with clients and regulatory agency personnel; and overall project management. Responsibilities may also include mentoring staff, building client relationships, and business development.

A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and one's home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Duluth, or Hibbing, Minnesota offices.
NOTE:
Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may also require entering and working in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Job assignments may involve work on waste disposal sites and sites requiring cleanup of hazardous materials. An OSHA-mandated physical exam may be required. Safety training will be provided. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, geological, or chemical engineering or related disciplines
- 10 or more years of relevant work experience
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, regulators, and clients
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness
- Strong computer skills, including word processing and use of spreadsheets
- A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs
- Willingness to travel and periodically adjust personal schedule to meet project needs
- Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in environmental, civil, geological, or chemical engineering or related disciplines
- Registered Professional Engineer
- Familiarity with Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) guidance documents
- Project management and leadership experience with complex projects
- Experience conducting communications, meetings, and negotiations with clients and regulatory and agency personnel
- Staff mentoring, building client relationships, and business development
