Manager, Financial Analysis & Reporting

Job Summary

Directly responsible for both identifying and providing timely, accurate, relevant, and actionable information to the CFO, Dir of FP&A and Director of Financial Operations as directed regarding all aspects of the company's financial performance and reporting.

The position will be the point of contact for all financial data and reporting requests from TSPMG leaders, operations, Finance, and other parties.

Through detailed analytics and investigation, the Manager will have a comprehensive understanding of general ledger account balances and impacting transactions, month-end close, general healthcare operations, and SQL server. The individual will have responsibility and understanding of all financial systems, including the budgeting system, general ledger, and other systems.

Oversee the creation, management, and monitoring of TSPMG's financial data and reporting activities, including Data Warehouse Budget and Forecast Report of Operations (ROP), Area Chief ROP, FTE Monitoring Reports, Variance Analyses and OneLink reports.

Is liaison to department Directors, Managers, and H.R. Recruiting regarding FTE reporting.

Provide supervision and oversight to lower-level financial analysts and accountants. Serve as interim in the absence of the Director. Works independently with minimal supervision, often under critical deadlines.

    • Provide training and mentoring to non-lead analysts.

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions
  • Manage the administrative functionality of the TM1 Budget and Forecast System (TM1), overseeing Dimension Management, Admin & Security, FTE & GL Extracts for OneLink and Data Warehouse, perform monthly updates and maintenance in TM1 that supports the accuracy of Payroll and Non-Payroll data for forecasting.
  • Directs with the Reporting and Analytics staff to ensure that the reporting database is intact, and reports are reflecting accurate data.
  • Oversee the process of ad-hoc requests received from customers (internal & external) to support and assist them with acquiring data relevant to their operations. Structures and executes analysis independently.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of various databases and systems, e.g., Tapestry, Clarity, Epic, Autocoder, OneLink, Blackline, etc.
  • Provides FTE and financial reports for budget vs actual to AMDs, mid-level and senior managers and directors.
  • Participates with preparation of financial data for internal audits

Minimum Education
  • 4 years bachelor's degree with emphasis in business, finance, accounting, or economics from an accredited program OR other bachelor's degree with equivalent professional experience in finance or accounting

Preferred Education
  • B.S. with Finance Major
  • A master's degree in accounting, finance, or business is highly preferred

Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications
  • Ability to understand and modify database reporting systems. Proficiency in SQL server or similar database application is required including ability to create, modify and understand programming language utilized by the labor reporting system.
  • Possess an understanding of budgeting and forecasting techniques.
  • Strong problem solving with the ability to conduct & interpret quantitative/qualitative analysis.
  • Possess technical expertise in systems analysis and database management.
  • Effective communication, consulting, interpersonal, & presentation skills
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting, financial analysis.
  • Proficient with SQL Server Management Studio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, or other applications/ systems.
  • Main frame computer knowledge and report writing a plus, such as, Crystal or DDView Report Writer.
  • Experience in preparing, interfacing, and analyzing financial statements, utilization reports and cost-benefit analysis. Must understand the general financial and operational issues related to IBNR in managed care.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and health plan issues and management practices. Understanding of health care norms in the community.
  • Project management experience.

Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications
  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years or more of related analytical &/or consulting experience.
  • Experience in a multi-faceted health care system.
  • Prior experience with HMO's, hospitals, and/or large physician practices considered a plus.
  • Ability to identify issues & propose methodological solutions.
  • Synthesizes analyses well, highlights implications of findings.
  • Expert w/ PC applications including spreadsheet, word processing, & graphics packages.
  • A managed care environment preferable.
