Product Manager - Sales API and Capabilities

GEICO is looking for an accomplished, customer-obsessed, and results oriented Product Manager to join GEICO's Sales Product Management team as we build low-code solutions, API products, Self-Service platforms, and data-driven capabilities that power a modern Sales ecosystem.
Location:
This position is preferably a hybrid role, however, exceptional remote candidates will be considered. Hybrid locations include: Washington, DC, Fredericksburg, VA, San Jose/San Francisco, CA, & Seattle, WA
The ideal applicant:
- Has at least 3 years of experience building and launching APIs, technical products, or low-code solutions that support multiple customers, internal business teams, and/or multiple lines of business
- Possesses a passion and curiosity for deep technical understanding
- Thrives at writing clear documentation and using artifacts and clear communication to navigate highly-matrixed environments and influence high-impact acquisition initiatives
- Has a bias for action and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to do the work
- Naturally dives into the details, writes requirements and leads cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions and business results through APIs, services, partner integrations and other modern architectural solutions
- Possesses leadership maturity and the ability to influence organizational change through proper scoping, process improvement, and positive team dynamics.
- Has prior experience in Insurance Product Management, Financial Services or a related industry;
- Knowledge in Underwriting, Rating, and Insurance Product Offerings (i.e., Modeling, Telematics, Product Definition) is a plus
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Understanding strategic context and transforming goals into plans and products that deliver measurable success.
o You will do this by decomposing a big market opportunity and technology vision into bite-sized need statements with clear success criteria and requirements that rally stakeholders and your team
- Defining & owning requirements that lead to scalable solutions.
o You will do this by transforming market data, stakeholder input, business data, platform data, and product insights into requirements used by design/development team. Eliciting, defining, and documenting functional and non-functional requirements that lead to scalable solutions and deliver measurable business value is a must-have skillset.
- Effectively leading 1-2 sprint teams across the product lifecycle. This includes:
o Introducing strategic context and requirements to your partner teams, and guiding the teams across the design, development, and delivery phases through standups, grooming, planning, prod support ceremonies, etc.
o Using data and context to drive trade-off discussions on scope and decision-making with technical experts and business stakeholders
o Work closely with tech leadership and architecture to understand the tradeoffs of technical decisions and how they impact the customer experience
o Fostering a strong agile discipline and inspires teams to continuously improve delivery through understanding of key agile metrics and agile practices
o Measuring and reporting on PDLC progress and performance of your in-market products, features, and capabilities
- Influencing your partners via data-driven artifacts that communicate opportunities, decisions and progress.
o You will own a 6-9 month Roadmap including Discovery Work and Features to Deliver, Problem Statements, Vision statements, Features/Epics, etc.)
o You will own Progress Updates that tie objectives to activities to measurable outcomes
- Operating as a thought leader and contributor to the overall Product Management department as we build a world-class Product Organization
o You may do this via templates, study halls, 1-sliders, demos, etc. to share knowledge and coach others on areas you are skilled in
Basic Qualifications:
• 3+ years of experience preferably in Agile product management
• 3+ years of experience translating Features into Consumer or Associate facing products
• 3+ years managing all aspects of a product feature throughout its lifecycle from concept to delivery
• 1+ years leading, mentoring, and coaching product managers
Preferred Qualifications:
• High sense of accountability and strong problem-solving skills
• Experience using quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions and drive change
• Passion for coaching and mentorship
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to influence across the organization
• Insurance industry experience preferable, not required
• Agile certifications preferred (i.e., SAFe, Scrum Alliance, Scrum.Org, ICAgile, PMI-ACP)
Annual Salary
$98,000.00 - $154,000.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
