is seeking an applicant for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level in the clinical track at the
Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center in Morgantown, WV.
In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will be actively involved in teaching medical students, pediatric residents, and internal medicine ID fellows. Opportunities exist to participate in clinical and translational research.
Successful candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD, or DO degree (the employer accepts foreign educational equivalent) and be eligible to obtain a state medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited pediatric or pediatric/ internal medicine residency program and hold American Board of Pediatrics certification. Subsequent pediatric subspecialty certification is expected.
The Pediatric Infectious Diseases division has three full-time faculty members. The clinical responsibilities include a very active in-patient and ambulatory care program, as well as outreach. The division is responsible for Antibiotic Stewardship and Infection Prevention at WVU Medicine Children's Hospital; opportunities exist to participate in WVU's Global Health and Tropical Medicine programs.
Our new 150-bed Children's Hospital has a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The hospital includes 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 26 PICU beds, a Heart Center, and a dedicated Cancer Center. WVU Medicine Children's is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. A Birthing Center also includes a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.
The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginia's most extensive health system and the state's largest employer. The System has undergone significant expansion in specialty and sub-specialty care in areas such as cancer, heart and vascular, and neuroscience, among many others. The Health System operates West Virginia's first and only multi-organ transplant center and opened a new 150-bed Children's Hospital in September 2022.
