Position Summary:
Works with the Lead Driver to pick up merchandise/donations from homes for the Resale Shop and also assists in setting up clients homes by loading, securing, delivering, and setting up furniture; assists with sorting and resale store showroom production.
Key Responsibilities:Unloads and loads items at the Resale Shop and provides preliminary sorting of donations; sets up displays in Resale Shop when necessary.Provides appropriate information for acknowledgment of donated goods and maintains daily, accurate recordkeeping.Assures all trash is removed from resale shop daily.Receives donations from donors and prepares donation receipt and maintains for accurate recordkeeping.Sorts, coordinates and organizes daily donations according to size, color, etc. and ensures quality merchandise is sorted from merchandise that should be discarded or prepared for bulk donations.Researches and prices and tags merchandise to reflect a competitive, yet appropriate price for the resale shop.Ability to discern if an item is rare or collectible, and determine its fair market resale valueAssists clients with completing vouchers for household goods, clothing, etc. for their personal use.Ensures the production area inventory, sales floor areas and dressing rooms are clean and organized for quick sales.Organizes clothing according to size, color, season, style, etc. and places on store racks for sale; periodically organizes the sales floor to ensure a clean and organized shopping environment for customers.Assists customers with questions regarding merchandise.Maintains good relations with donors and volunteers.Supports agency operations and is available for special events as necessary.Other Duties:
Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the employees supervisor or Executive Director.
Qualifications
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of two years related experience. Due to insurance requirements, the employee must be at least 21 years of age.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Drivers license- must meet insurance underwriting requirements. CDL not required.Have and maintain a clean driving record
Knowledge and Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate well with clients, staff and volunteers.Demonstrated empathetic and personable attitude.Ability to adhere to safe lifting techniques to maintain a safe working environment.Working knowledge of the rules and regulations involved in the safe and efficient operation of automotive equipment.Ability to work well with little supervision.Ability to maintain confidentiality of locations and housing of clients.Ability to drive a box truck.Mental and Physical Abilities:
The employee must be physically and mentally able to safely perform the essential job functions with or without a reasonable accommodation without a direct threat of injury to the employee, co-workers, clients or donors.
These include:
Routinely requires lifting, loading, and delivering merchandise, 50-75 pounds, using safety precautions, dolly and manpower assistance when needed.Regularly sit, walk and stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.Ability to sit and drive for short and long periods at a time.Ability to drive safely and follow driving regulations and rules.
Working Conditions:
Some work is performed in a warehouse like setting where there may be dust and dirt. Driver will climb in and out of the delivery truck, positioning and tying off furniture, bending and folding pads. In the summer the temperature might exceed 100 degrees. Winter brings the elements, as well. Drivers are required to wear a back support brace/belt when lifting and loading heavy items.
