Fiber Optic OSP (Outside Plant) Designer

Must be able to work within the United States*Three days in office hybrid schedule

As a Fiber Optic OSP Designer, you will produce high-quality, constructible Outside Plant (OSP) engineering designs for FTTH and other fiber optic network deployments. In this hands-on role, you will create OSP design packages, including aerial and underground (UG) utility placements, and generate supporting documentation such as splice matrices and permit applications. Familiarity with MDU (Multi-Dwelling Unit) design and ISP (Inside Plant) is also beneficial, as you'll occasionally support these areas.

Typical ResponsibilitiesCreate comprehensive OSP fiber designs with clear constructible routes for aerial, micro-trenching, boring, and other installation types.Produce detailed design packages, including Fiber Construction Drawings (FCDs), Bill of Materials (BOM), Scope of Work (SOW), and Notice-to-Proceed (NTP) packages.Use GIS and fiber design software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, Arc, Esri, 3-GIS, QGIS, Arc, Vetro, Visio, or others to produce and update network designs.Develop and maintain accurate splice matrices to support fiber connectivity requirements.Draft permits for aerial and UG utility placement and manage ROW/easement requirements with local municipalities.Ensure design quality and troubleshoot design challenges through proactive problem-solving and attention to detail.Coordinate with internal teams to finalize as-built documentation and ensure adherence to company and industry standards.Support efficient workflows by identifying design process improvements to enhance productivity and quality.Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.At least three years of experience with FTTH infrastructure and OSP design.Demonstrated expertise in OSP design tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, 3-GIS, Vetro, Arc/Esri or other GIS systems.Proficiency in creating splice matrices, fiber connectivity plans, and understanding OSP configurations.Experience with permitting processes and ROW/easement requirements for OSP construction.Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced knowledge of OSP architectures, fiber splicing techniques, and overall fiber network design.Experience in creating Bills of Materials (BOM) and performing material research for different OSP architectures.Familiarity with ISP/MDU design and the ability to apply ISP knowledge when needed.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Maps) for documentation and collaboration.Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and time management skills.Perks and Benefits:
