GENERAL PURPOSE:
The position is to join a dynamic and very busy research clinic with multiple contracts with the National Institutes of Health and pharmaceutical companies. Studies currently being conducted include observational studies of respiratory illnesses such as influenza and COVID19, phase 1-3 vaccine studies, and studies in therapeutic agents in both adult and pediatric populations. Applicants should have clinical research experience and under general direction and with latitude for independent judgment assume full responsibility for various clinical projects as outlined below. This position is responsible for providing clinical care including obtaining a history, performing a physical examination, evaluation of lab results, assessment, and determination of eligibility for research studies. Acts as a resource to all team members, coordinating orientation and educational/studentc6 preceptorship.
**RESPONSIBILITIES:**
**Research Responsibilities:**
+ Perform a health history, including sexual history and behavioral risk assessment
+ Targeted physical examination
+ Assess clients¿ suitability for active and upcoming research studies.
+ Perform venipuncture
+ Administer Investigational Product
+ Provide individualized patient education
+ Identifies other health problems and provides referrals to appropriate health providers for evaluation and management
+ Performs clinical audits for Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement
**Subject Safety:**
+ Evaluation of severity, causality, and relationship of Adverse Event/Medically Attended Adverse Event/Serious Adverse Event/Adverse Event of Medical Interest
+ Follow up on the above until stability or resolution
+ Review of subject laboratory test results as related to study participation
+ Subject safety reporting to Sponsor and Regulatory agencies
**Recruitment:**
+ Participate in the recruitment of adult study subjects; contacting potential study participants who have expressed preliminary interest, collecting the necessary data to initiate the study visit, perform informed consent procedures: screening of potential subjects for inclusion/exclusion criteria including obtaining Informed Consent.
**Clinic Tasks:**
+ Nursing assessments and procedures for laboratory specimencollection
+ Nursingassessments of abnormal findings as related to protocol parameters
+ Participates in orientation and training of new clinic research nurses and nursepractitioners
+ Assists Sr. Coordinator/Manager with training staff on newprotocols and procedures in compliance with Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and sponsor¿s requirements.
+ Assists Quality Assurance Manager with issues relating to maintaining current medical and nursingstandards of care within theInfectious Diseases Research Clinic-Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Unit
**Professional Development:**
+ Maintain University of Rochester credentialing requirements
+ Attend workshops/courses in protocol writing, study design and data analysis
+ Keep abreast of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and relevant regulations
+ Engaging in mentorship opportunities
+ Joining professional organizations (e.g., ACRP, SOCRA, APRN/PA research-focused organizations)
+ Attend research-related conferences, such as Investigator Meetings
+ Contribute to research publications, posters and presentations
+ Present research findings at conferences, seminars, or Grand Rounds to showcase and disseminate research work
**QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Completion of an AMA approved Physicians¿ Assistant Program required.
+ 1-year clinical research experience required
+ 2 year¿s experience as a Physician Assistant or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
+ Phlebotomy skills for adult and pediatric patients and good computer skills required.
+ Independent and organized professional with superior interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and good oral and written communication skills required.
+ NYS Physician¿s Assistant License required.
+ Ability to complete the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) program as well as other study-specific training & certification required.
+ Spanish language skills preferred.

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $98,010 - $137,218 Annually
_The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job¿s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
