RSM’s Transaction Tax Automation (TTA) practice is supported by a national team of subject matter experts who specialize in the implementation of technology platforms designed to enhance our client’s indirect tax compliance policies, procedures, and systems. Our team engages with our clients in a consultative, collaborative manner designed to focus on leveraging people, process, and technology to establish a more efficient and effective recurring compliance process. RSM is seeking an experienced and self-motivated professional to join our dynamic, collaborative and expanding State and Local Sales and Use Tax Automation practice. RSM’s collaborative and entrepreneurial culture provide a career-focused individual with the opportunity to be an integral part of an expanding State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. Operating out of 76 major metropolitan cities centered around 5 geographic regions, we take pride in being the premier service provider for middle market companies, while also having the depth and expertise to service Fortune 1,000 clients.
Responsibilities:
- Manage client relationships and targeting efforts related to developing new business for sales and use tax automation projects.
- Manage and maintain daily project tasks and work plans for specific clients.
- Work closely with the client team and RSM staff to perform project management responsibilities and develop deliverables related to client’s implementation requirements.
- Coordinate resources to perform tasks related to implementing sales and use tax systems (i.e. process mapping, functional and system design documentation, configuration of the tax system, user acceptance testing and training)
- Develop and manage project scope and budgets.
- Develop vendor and client relationships with regard to all aspects of the project.
- Identify and facilitate the sale of add-on services for other RSM lines of business.
Basic Qualifications:
- Requires a minimum of Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Computer Science.
- Requires CPA, EA or other accredited designation which demonstrates above average knowledge of sales and use tax application (CMI, APS, etc.).
- Requires a minimum of eight (8) years of Sales and Use Tax experience.
- Requires a minimum of five (5) years of sales and use tax technical experience with a focus on implementing sales and use tax automation systems for customer sales and vendor purchases.
- Strong technical knowledge of tax automation solutions (i.e., Thomson Reuters Indirect Tax Determination, Vertex Inc’s suite of products, Avalara’s solutions) and how each system works in conjunction with middle market Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) systems (i.e., Microsoft Dynamic Systems, NetSuite, etc.).

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $145,600 - $292,600Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
