5-D Systems, a KRATOS Company, is seeking a highly motivated candidate to lead the system engineering organization and maintain a high standard of system engineering excellence. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for staffing, fostering the company culture, creating/maintaining system engineering company processes, and providing technical subject matter expertise and contribution. The system engineering team is composed of engineers with various roles across aerospace and defense programs, including IPT leads. This role requires a combination of technical skills, soft skills, and leadership experience and will support manned, unmanned, and optionally piloted aircraft customers/programs. The System Engineering Manager will collaborate and coordinate with other functional managers, program managers, and technical leads, and reports to the Director, 5-D Systems.

Management and Leadership Duties Include:

Ensuring the system engineering team is staffed appropriately to meet company growth and business objectives. Leads hiring, resource allocation, and performance management for the system engineering organization.Providing the system engineering team members with feedback and recognition.Generating and performing annual performance reviews.Working in collaboration with 5-D Systems leadership and business development to forecast system engineering requirements and capability growth areas.Continuously improving the system engineering processes and methodologies.

Technical Duties Include:

Responsible for overseeing system engineering development activities including planning, requirements, design, implementation, verification, and validation.Analyzing customer/stakeholder requirements, decomposing requirements, deriving requirements, and allocating requirements to system and subsystem elements.Developing system architectures for new and existing systems.Conducting trade studies and performing design research of basic engineering concepts and explorations to determine optimal requirements and architectures.Developing system/subsystem interface definitions, system schematics, and system design documentation.Developing subsystem and system test plans and reports.Executing integration and test activities to include benchtop, hardware-in-the-loop, subsystem, system acceptance and verification testing, and flight testing.Assisting in preparation of proposals and presentation materials.Leading or supporting system engineering technical reviews (SETR).Traveling to customer locations as needed (>25% travel may be expected at times).

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering.10+ years of experience working in a highly technical, aerospace-related industry.10+ years of experience working in a Systems Engineering position and 2+ years of experience managing a team.Familiarity with all phases of the Systems Engineering design process: ConOps, requirements development, software/system Architecture, system Integration and test, Verification and Validation.Ability to acquire and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance or higher.
