We're focused on purpose-driven work, and strongly believe what's good for pets, people and our planet is good for Petco.Essential Job FunctionsInitiates and facilitates competitive bids, request for quotes (RFQs), negotiations, and resourcing activities to provide vendor matrix options that drive category growth, flexibility, speed to market and profitability.Develops and distributes financial models and reports to monitor and improve profitability and mitigate financial risk.Provides guidance on financial goals to cross-functional team members and others at start of new product development cycles.Develops and provides options on product costs to product development and design staff, and merchandising staff.Develops short- and long-term production and financial plans to support strategic business goals.Partners with inventory, merchandising and planning staff to align business needs with vendor capacity and ensure on-time and in-full delivery.Studies product roadmap, development strategy and innovation needs, and develops vendor matrix strategies to provide options that deliver on business goals.Evaluates vendors based on qualitative and quantitative data (e.g., performance, quality, pricing, service, etc.) and reviews data with the vendors and internal teams.Establishes goals for vendor improvement and matrix optimization.Performs analyses to allow for objective decision making, including total cost of ownership (TCO) opportunities.Manages vetting and onboarding of new vendors. Activities include: negotiating contract terms for new vendors, and supervising initial product development timing, cost engineering, test runs, and production to achieve on-time delivery.Partners with domestic and international transportation and logistics providers, and vendors to optimize freight costs for products.Researches, analyzes, monitors and reports on changes in macroeconomic conditions, cost component and raw material fluctuation, and industry trends.Recommends and implements strategies to take advantage of opportunities and mitigate operational and financial risk.Evaluates, designs, recommends and implements sourcing policies and business processes and systems to scale efficiently and drive value, sales, and profits.Identifies and drives sustainability initiatives within owned-brand products, supply chain, manufacturing practices and packaging.Travels domestically and internationally to visit and evaluate vendor production sites, and attends industry trade shows to identify, evaluate and build relationships with vendors.Provides supervision to assigned staff: includes activities such as hiring, counseling, guiding, training and delivery of disciplinary processes as required.Required Skills and QualificationsBachelor's degree in business administration or related field; 5 years of progressive work experience in global sourcing or sourcing related roles, or an equivalent combination of education, related experience and or training.Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.Leadership and management experience in private label sourcing and/or exclusive brands.Strong analytical skills and sense of curiosity, high sense of urgency, comfortable with ambiguity, polished influencing and negotiation skills, excellent communication and interpersonal/relationship-building skills.Note:
