Washington, DC, United StatesBasic Job Functions:The Federal Government Affairs Principal will serve as a member of Nucor Corporation’s Federal Government Affairs Team helping to develop and implement government affairs strategies to advance Nucor’s legislative and regulatory interests in a range of policy areas including international trade, sustainability and energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, and workforce.The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:Representing Nucor before key stakeholders and at industry and trade association meetings and events;Building and fostering productive working relationships across a variety of constituencies and leveraging existing relationships as needed;Supporting the development of policy positions and strategies to advance Nucor’s legislative, regulatory, and business interests;Monitoring and analyzing legislative, administrative, and regulatory developments on federal issues, communicating and advising on the status of priority issues and potential impacts to Nucor;Drafting issue summaries, briefing materials, and presentations detailing the impact of federal legislation and improving awareness among key internal stakeholders;Assisting Nucor divisions with special projects.The successful candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of politics and the legislative process, and a desire to promote American manufacturing.This position will be located in Washington, DC.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree with major emphasis in political science, public policy, or a related field;Three to five years of experience in federal policy which should include federal legislative and/or executive agency experience.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with key manufacturing policy issues, such as trade, energy, or sustainability.Nucor is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer – M/F/Disabled/Vets – and a drug-free workplace.
