As a senior member of the State & Local team within the U.S. Government Affairs department, the Director will shape the company’s public policy positions and execute government affairs strategies to achieve objectives at the state and local levels.The Director of State and Local Government Affairs will join a high-performing team that thrives on the fluidity, uncertainty, and intensity of the policy-making process. The ideal candidate will actively foster and grow our influential stakeholder network, constantly seeking new relationships and enjoying face-to-face interactions with government stakeholders. This candidate excels in the policy and regulatory space, adeptly translating complex policy information and Siemens’ technical know-how to navigate within Siemens and state and local governments. Additionally, the preferred candidate will embody a mindset of both strategy and execution while embracing a team commitment to collaboration.The position will be located near a Siemens hub location (i.e. Washington, DC, Atlanta, New York City, Dallas) with a hybrid remote work environment and ability to travel at least 50%.In this influential role, you will:Monitor, track, and analyze emerging regulatory and legislative issues at the state and local level.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on policy trends.Manage and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives.Work with various internal teams on policies and regulations related to manufacturing, infrastructure, transportation, and more.Influence government policy to increase demand for Siemens businesses.Identify and execute regional legislative and regulatory engagement strategies.Engage in lobbying and relationship building in state capitals and at trade association meetings.Track meetings, legislative hearings, and engagements with business executives and policy stakeholders.Identify company participation opportunities in government forums and industry group meetings.Support key high-level and business-critical state and local government relationships within the region.Establish and maintain relationships with state and local policymakers and elected officials.Develop, support, and edit information for policy communication activities, including memos, presentations, and social media content.Seek opportunities for public funding and support public and private sector opportunities.Support risk and issues management related to state, regional, or local markets.Secure and support elected official site visits and meetings.Travel up to 50% for business purposes.Basic Requirements:10+ years of public policy experience, including experience at State or local government level, U.S. legislative or executive branch, and corporate government affairs.Bachelor’s degree required.Demonstrated ability to develop strategic political solutions to complex and critical problems.Strong legislative research, legislative tracking, project management, and analytic abilities.Experience advocating for public policy issues relating to building and infrastructure design and construction, and advanced manufacturing.Successful record of managing complex public policy analysis and advocacy strategies, including policy communications with senior government officials.Expertise and existing relationships on the local, state, and federal level, as well as across key industries to assist Siemens in moving key business initiatives forward.Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while juggling multiple priorities.Ability to work within cross-functional and matrix style teams utilizing a strong organizational skillset to drive results within complex campaigns and projects.Must be authorized to work in the US without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.Preferred Requirements:Strong business acumen and ability to engage and influence senior executives and high-level government officials with a professional presence and business diplomacy skills.Driven by ownership culture and possess an entrepreneurial spirit and can-do attitude.Creative thinker who is interested in taking on new challenges and is purpose-driven.Master’s degree preferred.You’ll benefit from:Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to our employees. here .The pay range for this position is $175,000-$210,000 and the annual incentive target is 15% of the base salary.
