Job Summary:

The Director of Entertainment will drive and oversee the entertainment strategy for our technology-focused company, with responsibilities spanning theater operations for independent film screenings, sound stage crew management, on-site events, and strategic growth to new locations. This role will work closely with the VP of Entertainment to build and execute innovative programs, manage end-to-end event production, and scale entertainment initiatives. The Director of Entertainment will lead a team, ensuring operational excellence and a seamless experience across entertainment venues. This role offers the unique opportunity to build and grow a creative Entertainment department within Wisemen, contributing to innovative cultural experiences and business growth.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Execution

Collaborate with the Vice President of Entertainment to develop the entertainment strategy, ensuring alignment with the Company’s objectives.

Drive growth initiatives to expand theater operations and entertainment venues to new locations, conducting market research and feasibility studies.

Set and achieve annual goals and KPIs for the Entertainment department, including audience growth, profitability, and operational efficiency.

Theater Operations and Film Program Management

Oversee operations of theaters showing independent films, ensuring a curated film schedule that aligns with brand and audience interests.

Work with industry partners, film festivals, and distributors to secure film content and drive audience engagement.

Develop processes for ticketing, event scheduling, and customer service, creating an exceptional guest experience.

Sound Stage and Production Management

Lead the sound stage crew, ensuring effective scheduling, equipment maintenance, and setup for various production needs.

Establish and maintain relationships with production vendors and contractors to ensure top-quality sound, lighting, and video production standards.

Oversee safety and compliance for all stage operations, implementing protocols to ensure a secure working environment.

On-Site Event Management

Direct the planning, coordination, and execution of on-site events, including premieres, Q&As, workshops, and live performances.

Collaborate with marketing, PR, and other internal teams to maximize event visibility, audience reach, and brand impact.

Oversee logistics, including budgeting, staffing, vendor management, and quality control, to ensure successful and memorable events.

Expansion and Scaling Initiatives

Identify and evaluate potential new locations for theaters and entertainment venues, working with real estate, finance, and operations teams.

Develop scalable frameworks and standardized processes for setting up new entertainment locations, ensuring smooth rollouts.

Conduct training and onboarding programs for staff at new venues to maintain brand consistency and high standards.

Team Leadership and Development

Supervise and mentor the Manager of Entertainment, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.

Recruit, train, and manage team members, including theater staff, stage crew, and event coordinators, to meet performance goals.

Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for professional development within the team.

Budgeting and Financial Oversight

Oversee budget planning and financial tracking for the Entertainment department, managing resources efficiently and maximizing ROI.

Work with the finance department to analyze performance metrics, revenue, and expenditures, implementing cost-saving strategies as necessary.

Prepare regular reports and presentations for the VP of Entertainment, communicating progress, challenges, and opportunities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Entertainment Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Minimum of 8-10 years in the entertainment industry, including experience in theater operations, event management, or film production.

Proven experience scaling operations and opening new locations in a similar field.

Strong background in managing diverse teams, including production staff, theater operators, and event coordinators.

Familiarity with theater management software, event management platforms, and sound/lighting equipment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting to executive leadership.

Data-driven with an ability to interpret metrics and adjust strategies based on findings.

Demonstrated innovation in creating memorable audience experiences.

Salary:

$90,000 - $110,000 annually or commensurate with experience.
