The Senior Director, IT Infrastructure reports to the Vice President, Information & Technology Services Operations (ITSO). As a senior leader in the Information & Technology Services (ITS) department, the Senior Director, IT Infrastructure will drive transformational change of our business-critical technology systems and processes. The Senior Director, IT Infrastructure is primarily responsible for aligning current and future infrastructure needs with the Agency’s strategic priorities, applying their technical and operational expertise to ensure highly secure, reliable, and available networks and information systems for our users.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as the Agency’s subject matter expert (SME) for information technology infrastructure, including Microsoft 365 hybrid architecture, wired and wireless network/telecom hardware and services, security, and Identity and Access Management (IAM) tools and best practices.
Leads the ITS Infrastructure team, including day-to-day responsibility for staff, services, and activities involved with managing the Agency’s physical and virtual networks and telecommunications services, Cloud servers and storage, data center operations, and overall information security practices. Serves as primary point of contact for our Managed Services Provider (MSP) and other technology vendors.
Provides management direction for vision, planning, and implementation of the Agency’s IT infrastructure roadmap, programs, and projects. Follows the ITS Project Management process to provide oversight of and manage the health of Infrastructure projects.
Develops, directs, and manages the Infrastructure team’s work plan with appropriate staffing levels; assigns projects and areas of responsibility; collaborates with staff to regularly review and evaluate work methods and performance to identify areas of improvement and resolve issues. Provides feedback and encourages future effectiveness through coaching and delegation of responsibilities.
Creates and implements business continuity, disaster recovery, and risk management plans in collaboration with the Chief Information Officer (CIO), Vice President Information Technology Service Operations (VP ITSO), and Information Security Officer; playing a lead role regarding mandated security matters, including executive updates on information security initiatives and security incidents.
Researches, analyzes, and evaluates new service delivery methods and techniques; collaborates with peers to drive continuous improvement of IT service management practices; assesses and interprets complex data and evaluate program results.
Participates in the overall management of the ITS Department, including the development and implementation of goals, objectives, and priorities, Contributes to the ITS budgeting process for staffing, equipment, and supplies.
Supports other departments in developing, coordinating, and implementing short/long range information technology plans, goals, and objectives. Represents ITS by participating in advisory groups and committees; explains policies, procedures, and recommendations on a variety of issues.
Analyzes problems, identifies alternative solutions, projects consequences of proposed actions, and implements recommendations in support of goals; identifies and responds to sensitive community and organizational issues, concerns, and needs.
Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
May be required to periodically work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
May be needed to perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred, with major course work in computer science, management information systems, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum five years of increasingly responsible information technology experience, including four (4) years of management or team leadership experience.
Vendor management experience, from Request for Proposal (RFP) to contract renewal to closure. Managed Service Provider and/or Managed Security Service Provider (MSP/MSSP) partnership experience is a plus.
SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS
Microsoft 365 / Azure Administrator certification strongly preferred.
CCNA certification preferred, or experience with Cisco/Meraki technologies including VoIP and WebEx.
Information Security certification such as CISSP, CISM, or Security+ is preferred.
ITIL certification preferred, or working knowledge of ITIL or other IT Service Management methodology.
CAPM or PMP certification preferred, or working knowledge of Project Management methodologies and best practices.
Current and valid Driver's License required.
