Please review the following job description:The Head of Cloud Architecture will lead the bank's enterprise-wide cloud strategy, digital transformation efforts, and cloud security initiatives. This role requires a multifaceted expert with a proven track record in architecting, implementing, and securing large-scale cloud solutions within highly regulated environments.
The role requires technical expertise in both cloud architecture and security, business understanding, and leadership skills to drive our secure cloud-right approach. They will be responsible for maturing a comprehensive cloud adoption approach that aligns with business objectives, ensures regulatory compliance, leverages best-of-class technologies, and maintains high standards of security to protect our assets and customer data.
Key activities:
Mature the architecture and oversee the implementation of a secure, scalable, and cost-effective multi-cloud ecosystem
Design and oversee implementation of effective cloud security measures, including identity and access management, data protection, and threat detection
Collaborate with C-level executives to align cloud and security initiatives with overall business strategy
Drive innovation by identifying and integrating emerging cloud technologies and security solutions
Manage teams of skilled cloud architects and security specialists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
Ensure compliance with stringent financial industry regulations and security standards in cloud environments
Act as the key liaison between IT, security, business units, and cloud service providers
Develop and implement comprehensive cloud security policies, procedures, and incident response plans
Develop and maintain the bank's cloud architecture roadmap, strategy, and security framework
Lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and compliant cloud solutions
Oversee the development and execution of cloud security policies, standards, and best practices
Collaborate with business units to identify opportunities for secure cloud adoption and migration
Manage relationships with cloud service providers and security vendors, negotiating contracts and service levels
Mentor and lead teams of cloud architects, engineers, and security specialists
Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, security threats, and industry trends
Conduct regular security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability management for cloud infrastructure
Lead incident response efforts for cloud-related security events
Provide executive-level reporting on cloud architecture, security posture, and risk management

Primary Roles & Responsibilities
Defines short term and long term architecture
Publishes best practices and educates ET population on it
Responsible for defining training, certification and career path for its members
Constantly analyses different technologies and vendors for new or better alternatives
Provides implementation and service support of “below the line” Core IT Platform infrastructure with a focus on Production Stability / Uptime
Provides continuous Capacity Planning to ensure service demands can be met
Manages EOL Evergreening of old equipment to manage technical debt
Enables “above the line” self-service abilities and provides support for Squads through automation
Provides continuous improvements of service capabilities through efficiencies & optimization
Maintains Service level monitoring through dashboards
Consulting engagements for product squads to enable adaption and DevOps ownership practices
Driving Responsibilities
IT Infrastructure build-out and management
Responsible for procurement, installation and life-cycle maintenance of IT hardware and software
Will seek out unmet business needs and propose technology-based solutions where appropriate
Will develop, gain approval for and manage a budget to accomplish goals
Will serve on the Company IT Steering Team, which oversees all aspects of the company’s information technology function
Serves as the IT point of contact and accountable for the IT portion of new office setups, office expansions, etc.
Responsible for local IT vendor, contract and outsourcing management
Responsible for monitoring data backups in offices to ensure that they are completed regularly
Performs appropriate duties associated with project-based activities
Responsible for the identification, development and communication of new technology standards and best practices as appropriate
QUALIFICATIONSRequired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and ten to twenty-five years related experience or equivalent combination
Managed Technology or Technology Process Teams for more than ten years or teams of thirty or more technologists
Excellent knowledge of technical management and data governance
Knowledge of current trends in IT hardware and systems software field
Database management skills with the ability to produce reports
Familiarity with the support and troubleshooting of personal computers and tablet devices
Analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, and implement robust solutions
Interpret guidelines and analyze information to adapt or modify processes in response to changing circumstances
The position requires strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
The ability to excel in a team environment and advance overall team objectives
The ability to ensure customer satisfaction by delivering excellence in products and service
Ability to manage personnel with little supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree
12+ years of experience in IT architecture and security, with at least 7 years focused on cloud technologies
Expertise in major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and their security features
Strong understanding of financial industry regulations and compliance requirements related to cloud and data security
Extensive experience with cloud security architectures, including identity and access management, encryption, network security, and threat detection
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Proven track record of successful large-scale cloud transformations and implementing robust security measures
Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CISSP, CCSP, Azure Security Engineer)
