Throughout our 65-year legacy, Project HOPE has treated millions of patients and provided more than $3 billion worth of medicines to local health care organizations around the world.POSITION SUMMARY:The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for leading the overall planning, organization, management, and execution of all IT functions to ensure the efficient, effective, and secure operation of all automated systems. This role oversees the IT department, ensuring the development and implementation of cost-effective systems and efficient computer operations to meet both current and future organizational needs. The CIO provides strategic direction across the organization, offering ongoing analysis to identify and address user requirements while supporting policy, compliance, security, maintenance, and the development of new technological solutions.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Establish the organization's technical vision and lead all aspects of technological development and implementation.Direct the organization's IT strategy, development, and future growth, ensuring alignment with the overall business objectives.Collaborate with other department heads, advising on technologies that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.Provide leadership that aligns with the organization's culture, mission, and values.Ensure that IT infrastructure and applications are optimized to support operations.Stay current on leading-edge technologies, driving innovation and ensuring compliance.Act as a responsible steward of resources, managing the IT department budget effectively.Design, develop, recommend, and implement comprehensive, computer-based information systems to meet user needs and organizational requirements.Plan system applications, assign IT staff, and oversee development, testing, and implementation.Maintain and update the organization's IT Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans.Ensure hardware and software maintenance, data security, and staff training. Establish IT policies, standards, and security measures to protect information resources.Analyze complex business needs and recommend appropriate technical solutions.Develop and report on performance metrics, driving continuous improvement in IT management.Participate in hardware and software evaluations and maintain vendor contracts.Regularly communicate with senior management through status reports and presentations on IT initiatives, project progress, and strategic directions.Evaluate external advancements in IT to improve customer satisfaction, reduce expenses, and maximize revenue.Lead by example to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and policies.Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; Master's degree preferred.Technical certifications are desirable.At least ten years of experience managing an IT department, including technical staff and system development and implementation.Strong technical knowledge of current technologies, including ERPs and CRMs.Experience in an international organization preferred.Experience in programming, hardware installation, and maintenance.Proven ability to lead teams and achieve results through others.Ability to plan strategically and manage multiple priorities.Strong skills in problem analysis and resolution at both strategic and functional levels.Strong customer orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Compensation for the role is dependent on several factors including a candidate's location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
