The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.
VP, Head of Venue Technology:LA28 seeks an experienced professional to serve as Head of Venue Technology.
The Head of Venue Technology is ultimately responsible for overseeing the planning, design, delivery and operational management of Technology Services and Technology Service Providers that are deployed to Games competition venues (approximately 40) and non-competition venues (approximately 100) to support the 2028 games.
The role is responsible for strategic planning, governance, project management, contract management (of relevant service providers), stakeholder management, budget control, LA28 venue technology resource recruitment and management, as well as preparation and delivery of Venue Technology reports to internal and external stakeholders (including the International Olympic Committee).
The role reports to LA28's Chief Information Officer in the Technology department, based in our Los Angeles offices, and is a member of the LA28 Technology leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure that technology partners and providers deliver on their contractual obligations as they relate to technology services deployed to Games venues, including:
Technology services integrator for venue technology operations
IT equipment and services provider(s)
Audio/visual equipment and services provider(s)
Telecom equipment and services provider(s)
Venue partners and their affiliated service providers
Drive the requirements, selection, commercial relationship and delivery of the A/V equipment and services provider
Collaborative with LA28's technology services Integrator to monitor the definition and delivery of key project documents and processes they provided, including:
the venue technology strategy, including the management and coordination of venue planning, deployment and integration, in relation to technology services at venues and LA28 headquarters
the technology equipment allocation process
the venue technology implementation plan
equipment implementation policies & procedures
technology CAD drawing strategy and process
technology generic venue build & space requirements
Venue Transition Plan
Planning, recruitment and resource management of approximately 150 Venue Technology Managers and their deputies, whose role it is to manage the planning, deployment and operations of all technology services at venues, under the guidance of cluster venue technology managers, as provided by the technology services integrator.
Serve as the primary representative of technology for all venue tech topics for:
internal stakeholders: including other Technology functions (e.g. PMO, Telecoms, Sports Results Timing & Scoring, Applications, Service Delivery, Cyber Security) and other LA28 Functional Areas such as Venues & Infrastructure, Venue Management, Sport, Energy, Logistics, Broadcast Services, and Press Services
external stakeholders: including venue owners and operators, Technology Service Providers, International Olympic Committee, International Paralympic Committee, Olympic Broadcast Services, International Federations and National Olympic Committees.
Key role in governance of the Venue Technology program, in line with the over-arching governance framework agreed with LA28's Technology Services Integrator and LA28 Technology's PMO.
Key role in the completion of Venue Use Agreements between LA28 and venue owners and operators
Key role in planning and preparation for Operational Readiness exercises such as Test Events and Technology Rehearsals
Key role in satisfying International Federation requirements for on-venue technology needs
Manage the approved budget for Venue Technology
Identify cost optimization opportunities through design, management of user requirements and use of alternative technologies as appropriate.
Work closely with the Technology Services Integrator to:
ensure all Venue Technology activities are planned, documented and integrated into the LA28 Technology Master Plan
identify and manage key risks and ensure that appropriate mitigation strategies are developed and implemented
effectively manage escalations and issues as and when required.
Work closely with key stakeholders (internal and external) to identify post Games legacy opportunities.
As a member of the Technology Senior Leadership Team, contribute to the ongoing development of the Games technology strategy and the overall management of the Technology team.
Prepare and deliver reports to internal and external stakeholders (including the International Olympic Committee).
Ensure that all technology solutions deployed to venues support accessibility needs for diverse audiences, including athletes, officials, and spectators with disabilities, aligning with ADA and international accessibility standards.
Background & Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant area (e.g. science, engineering, technology) or extensive relevant experience (at least 10 years).
Must be able to engage and establish strong relationships with a large set of very different stakeholders.
Experienced in managing large and complex projects with full budget accountability.
Previous senior leadership experience in the planning and execution of technology services within a multi-sports / multi-event / broadcast context is a huge benefit, preferably demonstrated through proven experience in previous Olympic Games and/or other major events.
Able to adequately lead the successive but rapid phases of planning and design, deployment, operational readiness, operations with strong partners and very demanding clients.
A strong leadership presence and ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.
Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB).
Proven program and project management experience is essential.
Not afraid to roll-up-sleeves when needed.
An outstanding collaborator, adept at working within a complex matrixed environment.
Pragmatic with high energy, detailed in nature, with a passion for excellence.
Occasionally visit multiple venues to assess technology needs. This will include walking, standing for extended periods, climbing stairs, and navigating large event sites.
